Could not mount images folder (/bin/fog.download)
Hello Fog Community
I use fog trunk to deploy my images. I encounter an issue when trying to deploy a Windows 7 image on a client, whiches could be deployed last week and worked well. Today, when the download task starts, it displays “mounting file system …OK”
then …
“Could not mount images folder (/bin/fog.download) computer will reboot in a minute”…My storage is externalized by NFS hosted on a Windows 2008r2 server.
On fog server shell, when i try to type "mount.nfs @ipNFSserver:/images /temp , it say me : mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified (nfs common is installed)Thank in advance you for your precious help… i can work without FOG need to deploy 5 computers
Bye !

RE: Deployment issue (wrong credentials??)
I finally found the problem…
After the reboot, the old filezilla server restarted with windows, and bypass the built-in ftp server … -
RE: Deployment issue (wrong credentials??)
@Wayne-Workman
Yeah, my workmate rebooted the ftp server (which is a 2008r2), since that, i can’t connect on it via ftp with fog_user. So this is an ftp issue. I don’t know why !! -
Deployment issue (wrong credentials??)
Hi Fog Community!
I encounter an issue today, i really don’t understand how that happened!!!
I used fog this morning to upload an image on my external storage server, it worked, just after that, i wanna deploy this image on another computer, and when i create a deployment task, look what fog say !!I verified the fog_user passwd set on my storage server, its ok, in the storage node too ! i haven’t modified anything in the fog configuration today… i really don’t understand!
Any ideas?? Thank you !!!

@Quazz
Is it possible to upload 5+ PCs simultanesouly with unicast deployment?@gerald-stachl
I use version 1.3 of FOG@Sebastian-Roth
I’ll watch the logs, see below the processes:
@Wayne-Workman
Lets try to read and understand that procedures ^^ -
RE: PXE boot fails on a WIN10 based Lenovo (USB Ethernet) - FOG TRUNK
@fry_p said in PXE boot fails on a WIN10 based Lenovo (USB Ethernet) - FOG TRUNK:
@Wayne-Workman @george1421 We are going to move toward getting more UEFI devices (Surface Pro 4’s) but still have many BIOS devices as well. We happen to have DHCP on 2012. It’s a pain switching option 67 back and forth, I will try this in the morning. Thanks again, super valuable info!
Maybe you could try DHCP strategies to assign uefi ipxe to uefi devices, and undionly.kpxe to bios devices via clients mac@ddress

@george1421
Great to know it. Also, my DHCP server is a 2008 one… -
RE: FOG Multicast doesn't work
@fry_p said in FOG Multicast doesn't work:
Just as a quick workaround while the others look at this, with the cost of slower deployment, the default number of simultaneous Unicast sessions is 10 for FOG. This means you can normally image up to 10 (or more if you change the default setting) PC’s at the same time. The rest will automatically queue up and jump on as others finish. My rule of thumb is it isn’t worth multicasting if there are less than say 30 PC’s that need imaged at once. The downside is that of course performance is impacted in the speed of deployment. Just thinking out loud.
Hello @fry_p
I dont understand what you want to say mei’m currently just testing FOG multicast, and i think if it doesn’t work with 2 hosts, it will don’t work with more

RE: Is it possible to move an image stored on fog local server, to an external nfs storage
Hi guys.
X23Piracy, i have the same setup than you, 150gb for fog partition, then 1TB to store images. Thats my logic ^^
George, sorry but i don’t understand what u said with “location plugin”.
I tried to simply copy .img files on my storage server, (with CP) but FOG didn’t recognize it in webgui, and besides , it would have really surprised me^^ -
RE: FOG Multicast doesn't work
Hi,
I just pluged physically fog server + 2 machines on the same netgear (non-manageable) switch. It still don’t work (same problem)
We have only 2 VLANs in my company, one for telephony, one for DATA. (default) -
RE: PXE boot fails on a WIN10 based Lenovo (USB Ethernet) - FOG TRUNK
Great! i created another dhcp strategy which have ipxe.efi for option 67, it works.
Thanks you george, i mark this thread as solved.

FOG Multicast doesn't work
Hello Fog Community,
Today i try to run a multicast task on two DELL computers. They’re both inventoried and in the same group, which is assigned to their good image.
When i boot these on PXE, the process starts, load the kernel, see the waiting task, and they stop both on partclone when “starting to restore image” to device /dev/sda1 (see the picture below)
Any ideas ? it will very helpful to image 3 or more computers simultaneously
Regards

PXE boot fails on a WIN10 based Lenovo (USB Ethernet) - FOG TRUNK
Hello Fog Community,
I encounter a problem today , trying to upload an image from a Lenovo Yoga 460, with a USB Ethernet (lenovo official, needed to boot on PXE)
It launch the process, get an IP, then “Download the NBP file”, and finish with “Download NBP succeeded”. But, after that, the computer don’t load the ipxe menu and reboots.
I expect a kernel problem, i saw on fog 1.2 that some of these has “USB” in kernel name, and some else no. But in fog trunk, no “USB” in description.
Thank you for your help!!!

Is it possible to move an image stored on fog local server, to an external nfs storage
Hi Fog Community,
All is in the title, for precision, the NFS storage isn’t in the same group what fog local storage.
I use two storage groups & two storage nodes:EXT_STORAGE group : w2008r2 nfs storage node
LOCAL_STORAGE group : fog local storage nodeThanks for your help
-
RE: How work the fog storage (nodes, groups, replication ...)
@george1421
Oh ok, thanks for the precisions.Let’s work about ftp issues!
Thank you for your work george, appreciate it !!!
I’ll try it and keep you up. -
RE: How work the fog storage (nodes, groups, replication ...)
@x23piracy
I’m just searching how to make my setup work …
Need to store images on that f****g 2008r2 and its really HARD! Currently, my problem is located on image upload: when the upload task finish, the .Img files stay on /images/dev/mac@ddrs/ and they don’t move in /images/imagenamedefinedonwebguiSome people of fog support told me that its an ftp issue, (FTP to transfer /images/dev on /images , why don’t use a simply CP cmd, in local situation???) and i don’t understand why. It will be never resolved, because i think nobody understand (my fault maybe, i don’t write english very well) my configuration and issues i encounter :(((! I needed to write over 7 or 8 threads for the same issue, each time we resolve 1 step, but each next step i encounter another issue !!..
