    • RE: First using resizeable image. Not working

      @Wayne-Workman
I can provide some additional info, but no photos or videos for now, I decided to reinstall the system to new drive (for multiple reasons, not just FOG related). If I am going to have some time to recreate the setup, I will provide them in the future.

No it is not SSD. Classic WD (Caviar) Blue (both original 1TB and new 500GB)
It was not a RAID (now it is, but not related)
If you asking if IDE or AHCI - AHCI
PC is Lenovo Thinkcentre M83 (UEFI BIOS)

I have created and tried to restore the image on the same version of FOG (4557). Created without problem. Restoring of 1st partition, no problem. Failed on restoring of 2nd (main, windows 7 installation) middle in procces. Dont recall any more details, sorry.

      @Tom-Elliott
Don’'t remember that info was showed when creating image, remember only checking if it can be resized, resizing and uploading. Cant find it on FOG web at image page either. But as I said, all the data is not more than 100GB (100MB System reserver?, 40GB Windows 7, and about 30GB restore partition if I remember correctly) so I dont know, why it could not be placed on 500GB drive.

One not fully related question - Multiple Partition Image - All Disks (Not Resizable) image type can by restored to bigger drive? (I use this type of image by default)

    • First using resizeable image. Not working

Is it possible to restore image from fog server to to smaller hard drive? I have created new (resizeable) image of one hard drive, with 3 partitions (System reserved, Windows 7, Restore partition) but cannot restore it to smaller disk (original was 1000GB, restoring to 500GB, all data is not more than 100GB) - just some general error about not able to restore image.

Is the Single disk resizeable correct option for this type of image? (tried the Multiple partition, All disks as usual. but this didnt work either)

And what is the principle to restore and resize these partitions? Will be the two “fixed” size partitions (1 and 3) the same, and system partition will be maxed out?

      • hostname changer - disabled and still changing name while downloading image (disabled globaly and on host, previous built probably too, not testet, using unattended instalalation with hostname setting)

      Disable early hostname change.
FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings -> General Settings -> FOG_CHANGE_HOSTNAME_EARLY

      thanks will try

      • storage node setting FTP - new setting, using default value /image until changed to //new-path downloading image not possible (Must upload image first message)

      Update your /etc/exports file

no need to update this, my /new-path image path was working before upgrading to new trunk version, but setting from it was not copied to new seeting FTP path (it is propably the same, because when I changed it to //new-path, image downloading was working again, not sure 🙂

      • dhcp server want start after upgrade (range was definet as .10 .254 asked for number - changed to my own settings)

Disable DHCP on boot, and turn it off in the /opt/fog/.fogsettings file

why? I want DHCP to start after boot… I edited dhcp.conf and started DHCP manualy

      • error while downloading image to host (previous builds too):“Populating /dev using udev: udevd[2208]: error creating epoll fd: Function not implemented”

This happens to everyone right now - there is no impact.

yeah, it was working with it, through some versions, but I mentioned it to be sure

      • very slow image downloading - on previous built downloading image between 2,5 - 3 minutes, now - more then 5 😞

FOG Trunk is probably 300% faster than FOG Stable when downloading. Something in your setup is not right - we need details to help with that.

what details? I was on older version of trunk until today, upgraded to newest version and download time is two times as before 😞 No changing to system or FOG configuration, except what I mentioned earlier.

      • uploading seem the same, not testet properly (around 22 minutes for 25GB space in use?)

Uploading has seen a small improvement.
can be… I tested it only once

    • RE: Moving images to another disk

@Wayne-Workman didnt testet it thoroughly, but as I described it, it didnt work, (I made sym link /image - so no change in exports was needed?) , permissions and files created were ok - after changed exports to new location, everything startet to work.

Editing /etc/exports helped, not sure if reloading exports was needed, or restart, but I did both after editing to be sure. Thanks.

Even if I make soft link /images to /iscsi/lun0/fog-images ?
And thanks, I try it. Hope it will be just that.

      /images *(ro,sync,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check,insecure_locks,no_root_squash,insec ure,fsid=0)
      /images/dev *(rw,async,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check,no_root_squash,insecure,fsid=1

I looked to this, when I read some tutorial about this problem, but when I tried linking new path (/iscsi/lun0/fog-images) to default path (/images) and it didnt work I didnt consider this a problem. Not sure this is configured, when I change the path in storage node, or if nfs server is reloaded either.
