Hi, Just need an advice on is it possible to run the upload task on a Lab PC (after installing all the updates, and few other new programs), sysprep it and set the upload task to upload this image on fog. I would like to deploy this image in all the other Lab PCs (same model) but I do not want our default base image to be replaced by this new image. Is it I have rename the image folder or rename the image itself. Sorry I am coming back to Fog admin after good few months. How can I do this and do I need to sysprep the machine just before the upload task?
Many thanks

You should create a new image under “Image Management” and then assign it to your host. Do a capture task and it’ll upload to this new image.

MRCUR is right. Just create a new image definition and then change the image associated with your lab reference image to that new image definition and finally upload your reference image to the new image definition. And the last step is to change your reference system back to your default image definition.
From there if you want to switch to the new image, you can just pxe boot the computer and do a quick image to select the alternate image for your target computers in the lab.
As for sysprep, I say always do. But if you are pushing out a standard image to the same hardware from where it was captured from I’ve heard of people who do this without sysprep. Just make sure your reference image is not connected to a domain when you capture it.

@x23piracy While I ALWAYS use sysprep.
I know people that don’t and as long as you are using the same exact hardware model cloning that image without sysprep does work as long as the target reference image hasn’t been connected to AD.

Many thanks. So I will install all the programs, updates and run the sysprep before set the capture task in fog? I have created a new image and do I need to associate this new image with the client which I wants to take the image from?
-
@gabbas Yes. You need to associate the image that you want being captured to. If you do not, the capture will upload with whatever image IS associated currently.
-
@gabbas Correct. You first create an image definition then connect that definition to a reference host to capture … dang Tom is too quick.

Many thanks, and appologies as I was away from the forum for a week. I will try your suggestion and update the results here.
