Windows 7 dual boot image clears Windows boot manager

Which version of FOG do you use? What kind of dual boot have you setup? We use Windows 7 and Linux (Wubi) setup as dual boot in the Windows boot manager and that works without any issue after cloning the machines with FOG. Please tell us more details about your setup and we might be able to help out.

SVN version 4778. The dual boot is just Windows Boot Manager. I just have the HardDrive partitioned split down the middle. 250 and 250 gb give or take a few Gigs. Windows loaded on each partition and using Windows boot manager to have the different options on boot. Nothing real major, just basic setup. So it’s two versions of windows on the HD. Each partition is a different type of windows install for our situation.
WBM just gives us the option on boot to select:
Windows 1 or
Windows 2. -
@EAHarvey Only thing I could say to do for the moment is using the RAW image type. You’ll need a considerable amount of storage space in order to capture and deploy a RAW image type. Basically, a 500GB drive means a 500GB image.
I know that others have successfully taken dual boot images before, for systems booting both Windows & Linux but I don’t remember exactly how they did it.

try setting your Operating System on the image to “Windows Other”

@Junkhacker Tried that . It just errors out and says wrong OS.

If i do the Singledisk multiple partition option, it will work. Not too keen on that since i may have to use different size drives. (UPDATE)

Hmmm, this reminds me on a setup we had some time ago. Back then we had two HDs in our PCs with two different Windows 7 installations on them. I am not exactly sure what was going on but if I remember right I found out that the Windows system on the second HD will load BCD from the first HD when booting up. Sounds pretty wired, I know. Can’t test this right now but maybe you can play around with it. Boot the Windows 2 from your second partition and edit check the BCD settings. Try changing the timeout time and reboot…

Knowing that, it might be possible for you to use the task editing plugin to create a task based on “single disk multiple partition” but make them resizeable.
Also keep in mind that FOG currently cannot resize LVM. I’ve only succeeded in resizing a Linux Ext4 partition.

Not really. I’m talking about you creating your own task type. To be honest I’ve not used this plugin yet, but I’m fairly sure it’s possible to do what I’ve described.
