DirectX 9 snapin
-
Hey guys I’m trying to install DirectX with snapin pack. The files is an EXE and i create a batch file to execute it with the “/silent” command. That’s what it says online but for some reason it just hangs when installing it and nothing happens. No error is returned it just hangs

@tesparza If you copy the file to a target computer, open a cmd window using run as administrator. Then issue the command with the /silent key switch does it install without asking any additional questions?

@george1421 I ran it and it didn’t work. I tried “/q” instead and that worked but it wasn’t silent, a dialog boxed pop up says where you want to extract the file too.

@tesparza Well that is why, she no work. Its asking you a question on the hidden screen

@tesparza A suggestion I can give you is this. Use 7-zip to extract that direct-x .exe file. It is a self expanding archive file. Then you will need to change how you deploy it, you will need to deploy it as a fog snap-in pack and not a .exe

@tesparza the file you are running doesn’t appear to be the installer. It appears to be a self extracting archive that contains the installer. Once you give it a path, it should place all of its install files there, including a DXSETUP.exe, which would accept /silent.
My suggestion is to either find a different version of the installer, such as an MSI, or to take the extracted files and create a snapinpack out of them.
