backing up data error
-
Dear FOG community,
I have a problem at the beginning of the installation.
The installation remains “Backing up database …”I have installed:
Ubuntu 16.04.03
FOG 1.4.4
no proxyI do not know how to continue.
Translated with Google.

I solved the problem by re-install the OS Ubuntu, configure the internet connection and install fog. Everythings fine now. IT was no problem because I had to use a new device from scratch.
I am from germany and saw some (funny) translation errors in the german language. Some things like “host” doesn´t mean “Gastgeber” (= a person how invites friends for a dinner at home), but also in german it-language “host”. A critical error (FOG 1.2) was the wrong translation of “device” to “Drucker” (=printer) instead to “Gerät”.
I am willing to assist in the translation of the phrases. Please let me know.

This article may help you to update: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10006/ubuntu-is-fog-s-enemy
Also there is a error log file in a directory next to the installfog.sh script. Look in that sub directory to see what is behind the error “Backing up database…”
If you can explain things better in your language please do so, we can translate with google too. I will only answer in us english because that is what I think in.

@george1421 this should be the correct solution
We’re also on Ubuntu 16.04 and the fog installer is failing at exactly the same point. After running the commands to alter the root user in mysql the installer runs fine.
I think this problem re-occurs even when just updating the system by apt-get sometimes - so I am running the mysql alter commands every time after apt-get to be on the safe side. -
@tian Thank you for your professional experience here. I don’t personally use ubuntu so… That should give the OP a clear path to fixing it.

@Deimos Great to hear you got this solved. As well you are more than welcome to join in and help with all kind of stuff like translations and such. Not sure if you are familiar with how git works and wanna get your hands dirty. If not you might just download the latest german messages.po here, modify and post the changed version in a new thread here in the forums. Thanks in advance!
Kind of funny as I’m from Germany too but I’ve always used FOG in English language… and never found the time to fix the translations.

Hallo,
alles klar. Ich ändere die Phrasen und lade es hier hoch. Mit Github kenne ich mich nicht so gut aus. Es kann ein bisschen dauern. Wenn ich fragen habe, was gemeint ist, mache ich hier einen “German Translation” - Thread auf.
Ich möchte gern etwas zurück geben, weil wir inzwischen mit drei FOGs arbeiten und auch hier gute Antworten bekommen.

Hi,alright. I’ll work on changing the phrases and will upload here. I am not familier with github. Could be a while till I get to it. I will open a new “German Translation” thread in case I have questions about the meaning of phrases.

@Deimos Sure, all fine. Take your time and thanks in advance!
We should be able to collaboratively work on this here: https://demo.firepad.io/#6XlP080kbJ
Would be great if you open a new “German Translation” thread anyway. I am sure it’s good to post it there and discuss things.
