      Server
      • FOG Version: 1.3.0
      • OS: Ubuntu 16.04
      Description

I’m using Capone to deploy images automatically in a old version of FOG. Now I installed 1.3 in a new VM but I can’t get Capone to work.

I have made an image and made a DMI association (DE3250). I selected the DMI field System-product-name. I looked at the inventory to doublecheck the value.

When I boot a computer it starts Capone and tries to look for an image for the value DE3250 but fails. After a while I get the error “Count not find an Image Definition (/bin/fog.capone)” and the system reboots.

      What am I missing here?

@eVal Would you mind uninstalling capone and reinstalling it (for your needs)?

Just removed the plug-in and tried to reinstall it. But now I have my old issue back where fog.capone doesn’t show up as a menu item.

Last time it finally showed up, don’t know how but it was suddenly there.

@eVal you activated and installed it?

Thanks for the quick replies btw 😄

Yes, I first removed Capone, then activated and installed it. In the plugin management it is visible so no problems here.

But the last time I wasn’t very clear I see. When I reinstall Capone it does not show up in the iPXE Menu Configuration menu.
So I can make associations etc. but when I boot up a PC the option Capone is not visible.

@eVal Did you recreate the DMI association?

I have it set to only create the menu of the DMI association is defined (as otherwise we have nothing to base the capone system off of it).

Yes, I also recreated the DMI assosication.

Also tried different DMI fields etc. But the menu item fog.capone doesn’t show up in the iPXE menu.

@eVal When you created the association, did you also give it a dmi value to look for and press the save settings under it?

I just did all this and it worked as expected.

Remember, the “Update Settings” and “Add Association” are two separate forms. Making a change to one, but updating the other will not store the value of all forms on the page. This wasn’t my design, just what I had to work with at the time.

So, as you see Tom fixed the issue in the trunk branch. You can get that by following these steps:
