    Hi,

It’s not a big deal but since few months, hosts ping didn’t work : all pc already in fog console are always marked as red even if they are online with display “operation not permitted”.
And strange thing is : newly added hosts are always marked as green with “success” display even if they are shutdown…

    Thanks 😉
    Matthieu

The detention is not perfect. Operation not permitted is the actual message returned when trying to perform the action. New hosts will always show as success because it hasn’t pinged yet.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Ok, it’s not a problem, it’s just surprising that all former pc are always in red (computers already in database before arpil/may) and all new one (since may) are always in green even if they have already been start/stop several times.

@Tom-Elliott I moved these log files and reboot server but /opt/fog/log is empty, log files don’t regenerate…
Anything to do to force this ?

@Matthieu-Jacquart try to just touch the file to make a blank file, give it 777 permissions and see what happens.
                          touch /opt/fog/log/pinghosts.log
                          chmod 777 /opt/fog/log/pinghosts.log

I briefly looked over this thread - no mention of firewall so far… check that? What about SELinux?

@Matthieu-Jacquart Is your server GUI based (do you open using xterm/terminal?) I ask because I’ve seen where logs don’t get written and most commonly it’s how the system was installed. Many people run: ./installfog.sh -y which is fine in most cases, but if you’re already root (xterm – then sudo su rather than sudo -i or sudo su - or signed directly in to GUI as root), the root paths aren’t properly solved out. This is fixed, often, by changing how you’re becoming root.

@Tom-Elliott So, I’ll try to well respond, but not sure to have understood everything 😉
My installation is a debian 8 without graphic interface, and I connect with SSH directly with root account.
                                I just run ./install.sh (without -y)

This is just a thought but if host ping is having issues - wouldn’t there be logs about that in the apache error logs?

On Debian that might be /var/log/apache2/error_log

Not going to help much, I’m sure, but what about output of:

                                      systemctl status -l FOGPingHosts
