Language selection doesn't change anything for example german
-
Hi,
@Tom-Elliott
when i choose german as language nothing happens?
More then 3 years ago i translated a lot of lines: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/3413/german-translation-from-0-32-does-not-appear-in-dropdown/1Regards X23

Should be fixed in current. Thanks for reporting.
-
It’s the same for French version, nothing happens.
-
@Tom-Elliott is it possible that the current german messages.po is filled with english? The only german phrase i can see is at the home under system overview, username ist shown as “Benutzername” is my ols translation not in the current trunk?
Regards X23

@Tom-Elliott i could get my old messages.po file from the old vm, it seems that no translation have been added since, still 919 lines like before 3 years. I can see that a lot of strings are still in english, is it possible that you extend the current message.po files with the new strings added because of extended development? Else something must be wrong, afai remember there were more string in past that had translated when using my old file.

@davido38 Hi, maybe the current french message.po isn’t translated, you can get the file for example with winscp from your fog and then open it with a copy of poedit: https://poedit.net/
As example:

Hi,
i found out that the messages.pot contains more tranlation strings, instead of 919 it has 1096.

I’ve recreated all the .po files and binaries. Right now, no language is translated as I think just too much has changed. You are more than welcome to edit the files and post the translated .po’s. If you make them, I’ll convert them into the needed binaries.
Yes I know there’s a lot of changes. Yes I know there’s stuff that has already been done, but I still think all of it, from when that was made to now, still needs to be redone anyway.

@Tom-Elliott while playing around with the latest poedit version i found this service here: https://crowdin.com/
the problem is, it’s not free, do you know any kind of this service for free?https://crowdin.com/project/fog-project/invite
Something else to the translated po files, just in the minute i was wondering why the translations of “estimated fog sites” does not work, i used the latest pot created new german po and mo and put them into the german directory but it does not effect… hm. What do you mean when talking about binarys? for the Webif the plain po files should be enough, am i wrong?

@x23piracy The po files are just text, but how the system actually read’s the data is from a binary file that needs to be generated.
The simplest thing I’ve found, is to just use notepad on the .po file. I say simple, but that’s not necessarily the case.
Once the po is complete, we need to create a binary which is what get’s loaded when the locale is defined. I can do this automatically.

I pushed up the file to google and translated it. Of course I know it’s most likely not perfect, but should be pretty close. It’s 100% free as well.
-
@Tom-Elliott google is pretty bad with translations and they force you to create payment account, i used microsoft translator and yandex and i found out that microsoft translator is doing best of all the crap out there :D, here are all the files for all the languages:
I used the 10 day Trial from crowdin.com, pretty useful for batch translations as they support google, microsoft and yandex api.

0_1463952921225_zh-CN.zipAs i know that you need the binarys (i call it mo files) i created them and tied them all together with the languages in this file:
Lets say the translations are not the best, it’s even a start for better translations and we may can start a thread with a tutorial to poedit and maybe the community want to make this round… just my thoughts
@Tom-Elliott when updating a messages.po is it needed to restart apache2 to get it adopted?
Regards X23
-
@x23piracy Sometimes yes. Did you use the updated .po files or the files you had?
-
@Tom-Elliott as base i took the messages.pot from 7751 (1096 strings each language) but tom it seems there are a lot of string that are not considered by the messages.po:
Sometimes only fragments are translated, seems to be a bit strange, is it possible that the multilanguage coding stuff is incomplete?
-
I pushed up a new base at 7753, We’re currently at 7767 (because I added the files you had uploaded.)
I’m going to reupload 7765’s info as that has more current info. I do appreciate taking the time to translate these files, but please, use the languages folder. There’s is a specific format and it’s there for a good reason I think.
-
Also, the issue you’re seeing is also corrected for.
DB Values are not interpreted currently. I don’t know of a good and simple method to do so quite yet.
-
@Tom-Elliott here are the latest translation, same procedure like last night, used crowdin.com with microsoft translator, 1446 strings translated for all languages:
Please let me know if you adopted them and starting with which trunk build, thanks.
Regards X23
-
@x23piracy The current build’s have proper translation files all updated and installed.
I’ll take a look at these for comparison.
-
I’ve added the files here and fixed them so the installer will build the .mo files itself if installlang is selected.
-
@Tom-Elliott afai could see there are still strings missing in the latest files, for example i have a complete translated messages.po for german but i still can see some strings that are in english. I you need i can collect samples.
