Chainloading issue - r6124 ipxe.efi
-
What’s weird is this was working just earlier - and I had done nothing to change it. Now it’s erroring out every single time I try to boot using ipxe.efi with an Optiplex 9020 in UEFI mode.
-
How the heck did grub.exe get into the boot order? I might expect a windows .exe to choke a linux kernel, well just a bit.
I booted a 9020 this morning in efi mode with what ever build was current yesterday after 4p EST.

Change the exit style for this machine (or general settings) from GRUB to EXIT…?
-
@george1421 grub is used if the exit style is grub. The issue here is the system is loaded via efi, which the grub file is not an efi binary. I’d recommend trying refind or exit. Exit should release back to the OS where refind still needs to be configured…
-
I’m solving this thread as the information contained is still accurate and the proper fix would be to change to exit, or configure the refind config file more appropriately. I’d suggest, if anyone would be willing, to test the refind and a config, and maybe create a wiki on it? I don’t know how and haven’t really tried either.
I know this sounds lazy, but I just don’t have an efi system nor time to learn another configuration at the moment.

@Tom-Elliott Just HDD exit types need a wiki article in and of themselves. Right now, I have the exit types for all my equipment only in my head… If I slip and hit my head on the sink, it’s all gone!
