    I am running into an issue where I can register a host with Fog, but it won’t image. The host machine just goes into a loop of rebooting, making an iPXE connection with the Fog server and then shutting down and rebooting again.

    I get the eas2r driver message, but after a few seconds it will boot into the Fog menu. My Fog server has always done this and it hasn’t been an issue.

    I am using Fog 1.2.0 with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

    Thanks!

      Try re-running your 1.2.0 installer. Let us know what happens.

          @PageTown Nope. Although you should export your DB and Hosts just for good measure.
          FOG Configuration -> Configuration Save -> Export and Host Management -> Export -> Export

          If you don’t have your images backed up, you really should back them up.
          If your FOG server’s HDD died, or the roof sprung a leak and pours water on your servers all weekend long (it’s happened), it’s not our fault nor fog’s fault that you don’t have a backup, and there won’t be anything we can do for you.
          And, if you need help with creating a backup plan, please just ask us. We’re here to help - but that topic deserves a new thread.

            I am running into trouble trying to run FOGBackup.sh

            I have an external drive connected to my laptop (/media).
            I am logged in as root.
            At the terminal, I went to the FogBackup directory and I am typed sudo ./FOGBachup.sh /media/

            In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, this is what I am seeing:Screenshot from 2015-07-29 10_36_40.jpg

            I look on my external drive and there’s nothing there. Please advise, thank you!

              @PageTown If you know the path of your external drive, you can do it manually without using the backup script. That’s what I do, but I use the network and not external drives.

              What’s your external drive’s path?

                @Wayne-Workman me external drive’s path is \media\

                Where does Fog put the images by default in Ubuntu? I haven’t had any luck finding where they are stored.

                  @PageTown They should be in /images unless you changed it during the installation.

                  If you look here: Storage Management -> <StorageNode> -> Image Path

                  That’s where they are. If you can post that, the rest is easy.

                    @Wayne-Workman

                    Ok, thanks. I found them and am copying the folder over to my external drive.

                    I also did the FOG Configuration -> Configuration Save -> Export and Host Management -> Export -> Export which created a fog_backup.sql .

                    These two things are all I need?

                        @Wayne-Workman Will do.

                        After am I doing a re-install of Fog over my pre-existing one using the same steps I used to install it originally?

                          @PageTown If the installer completed when you first installed, it won’t ask you any questions, it’ll just display the settings that you used when you first installed, and ask you Y/N for installing.

                          This would be the first step in troubleshooting.

                            @Wayne-Workman So do I just go into the fog folder directory and do sudo ./installfog.sh then?

                                  @Tom-Elliott His FOG server went belly up, so I asked him to rerun the installer and see what happens.

                                    @Wayne-Workman I re-installed Fog but doing so didn’t solve my problem.

                                    The Fog menu comes up on the host, it let’s me register the host but it won’t image. It makes the iPXE connection, but then reboots.

                                    I looked in task management and verified that an imaging task is created, but it disappears when the host machine fails to begin imaging and reboots itself.

                                    What’s my next step?

                                        @Wayne-Workman I am downloading an image to a machine.

                                        I was able to figure out my problem. I was having the same issue as cg2916 in another topic.
                                        I had uploaded an image from a machine that had a 1.5 TB drive and was pushing it to a machine that had a 160GB drive. Even though the image itself was only 4GB or so, the host machines with the smaller drives weren’t taking it.

                                        Thanks for all your help Wayne!

                                          is the image type “Single Disk - Resizable” ? that is the only image type that can deploy images to hard drives of smaller size than the disk of the original source
