Is there a way to make and use an entire HDD image from a PC? What I am trying to do is be able to backup PC’s from time to time in case of a hard drive crash. I would like to be able to put a new drive into the PC and say re-image.

    Thank you in advance,
    Ben

You could always do a “raw” image, but it’d take a long time

The best way is just selecting “multiple partition - single disk” and “Resizeable”.

Because for the use that you are wanting, I will guarantee you that you will not replace a failed HDD with the exact same sized HDD. RAW is a bad choice for this usage.

Also, I’m not sure that FOG is for you. Clonezilla is likely better suited for this purpose.

Is there any plans for FOG to move in this direction anytime in the near future? I have heard about an upcoming release, but not sure about the new features.

          Thank you again,
          Ben

I finally got it. I had to turn UEFI Network Boot Stack on in the BIOS. It has now imaged the drive. The only problem I have is can these images be compressed in any way?

              Thank you,
              Ben

Yes, that is supposed to happen during image upload.
It’s the “compression” setting when you are creating/defining a new image.

The compression setting might be located in a different spot in 1.2.0.

Look around in FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings.

                            Yes, that’s it.

9 is the highest setting and the original default, 6 is the current default setting in SVN.

Thank you, I am not sure my first image was 433Gig and my second was 45Gig. I did nothing different. I am glad to see the file size has decreased.
