fog 1.2.0

Dell E5510 ( I have tried other hardware as well)

If I use undionly.kpxe it shows iPxe 1.0.0+ and the laptop freezes

OPtion 067 im using undionly.kkpxe

I get as far as
configuring (net0 … ok /default.ipxe… Error 0x3d126001 (http://ipxe.org/3d126001)

The computer freezes.
I have tried this, It doesnt work either.
http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Chainloading_PXE_to_iPXE_using_pxelinux.0

How can I make fog work?

Fog is a brick until this gets fixed.

Do you use Windows TFTP server? Checkout this post here: http://forum.ipxe.org/showthread.php?tid=7417

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

It is ubuntu Linux. Linux tftp. 0.32 worked, 1.2.0 don’t.

Not sure why ipxe was included if everyone is having problems.

Some laptops/desktops work , some don’t. ALl worked with pxelinux.0

what is the solution developers?

We switched to iPXE for several reasons. Primarily for the speed increase by using faster/more secure protocols. It also allows for dynamic boot menu creation. Just because ‘pxe worked’ doesn’t mean it was ideal. A lot of things ‘work’ but shouldn’t be used.

My guess to the solution? Try a different boot file. There’s a reason we included several of them. Some may work with certain hardware and others may not. (See http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/IPXE#What_are_the_differences_between_the_different_PXE_files.3F )

Mike, I don’t understand your post. “I don’t know why ipxe was used if everyone is having problems.” This makes no sense. We have of 50k downloads of 1.2.0 and of those maybe a few tens to hundreds whom have had some issues with ipxe. Most of those have found different files that just work and others whom have found chain loading through pxelinux.0. This does not correlate to “everyone” having problems.

also, support for UEFI systems is simply not practical with pxelinux.0
