I have a new Dell Optiplex 7020 and I am trying to get it to connect to my FoG server via PXE and it’s not working. Anyone know of a working FXE file I should be using for this connectivity? I want to save an image that uses EUFI Bios and iPXE is not working 😞

      Any suggestions?

      -Jim

@Jim-Holcomb Can you provide more information.

Can you image any other computer using that same Ethernet connection?
If so: Is this new Dell trying to PXE boot at all? Does it get to the >>Start PXE over IPv4. screen?
If so: What iPXE version are you using? What bootfile are you using in your DHCP setting?

@Jim-Holcomb If you’re able to show the error that’d really help. This, in my experience, really sounds kind of like a “Secure Boot Enabled” issue, at first glance.

              Hi Jim
We have 63 Dell Optiplex 7020 micro PCs. Here is our BIOS setup that works for us but the main things that seem to cause issues with FOG is the SATA/NVMe, and Secure boot. Hope this helps

              Under Boot Configuration
Move Onboard NIC (IPV4) to top of list
              UEFI NVMe SSD drive next
              Uncheck the following:
              Windows Boot Manager
              UEFI HTTPs
              Onboard NIC (IPV6)
Scroll down and turn off Secure Boot

              Under Storage
              Change SATA/NVMe Operation to AHCI/NVMe

              Under Connection
Intergraded NIC: Choose Enabled with PXE
Enable UEFI Network Stack: Auto Enabled
              Turn off HTTP(s) Boot Feature

              Under Power
Turn on Block Sleep and Disable Deep Sleep

              Under Security
Scroll all the down to UEFI Boot Path Security
Set to prompt for admin password except for internal HDD&PXE

              Under System Management
Wake on LAN/WLAN: set to LAN with PXE boot

Hi Tom and Rodluz. I use FoG often. Our company uses Lenovo’s predominantly and all works great. For legacy devices I use undionly.kkpxe but mainly for EUFI devices I use ipxe.efi

Tom, I went into Bios and yes, Secure Boot and all of its options are enabled.
Rodluz, yes I do get the >>Start PXE over IPv4. screen and then I get the proper IP addresses and message that NBP file downloaded successfull, then the screen goes blank and then the Start PXE over IPv6 screen pops up, then nothing. Times out.

Thanks for the responses, all. What’s my workaround to get this to work?

                -Jim

@Jim-Holcomb You should disable Secure boot

                    Hello All! (Especially Wilsol)

I used the top configuration ideas from Wilsol, and before I could get through the entire list, darned thing started working. (yeah probably secure boot, thanks Tom for pointing us in the right direction)

Thanks to everyone for the assist.
