SOLVED sort of. I had to make the VM disk larger. The image is roughly 70GB. After increasing the disk size from 100GB to 130GB on the VM I was able to deploy the image.

I am trying to deploy a Windows 10, single disk re-sizable, everything image. The image was captured from a Windows 10 UEFI based laptop.

This is the first UEFI image I captured and I am trying to deploy it on a UEFI VM before I deploy it on metal. Legacy images work fine. I searched around but I am not sure what to check. Any advice would be appreciated.

@Fog_Newb See that you already kind of solved this but I’d still give you some hints on why this is happening.

Take a look at the numbers in the partition files you posted. Start of the third and last partition is sector 232574976. Add the size of sda3 (181632 sectors) and multiply by the default sector size 512 to get the minimal size of disk you need in bytes (devide by 1024 three times to get giga bytes): ~ 111 GB.

This is because the third partition is sort of blocking the whole to be resized to a smaller disk. You can search the web for that type ID (DE94...) to find out what type partition that is.

Is this a legacy Windows 10 install that has been converted? The partition layout is not standard.

Yes, it was a legacy 10 install that was converted to EFI.
