Hi guys I am having trouble preforming a “Full Host Registration and Inventory” on a Dell Optiplex 7050. I though this was a Spanning Tree setting issue on the switch but this option seems to be enabled. Not sure why I’m having this issue. I can push an image to any other model computer just seems to be an issue with this model.

@msaglioc99 You never answered in the other thread. George says that he’s successfully tested a 7050 machine.

Interesting, I just tested a 7050 and it pxe booted and registered correctly. The only exception here is that the model we are purchasing still has the 6th generation CPU (skylake) processors installed. Let me boot it and see what nic is installed.

The bios version is 1.5.2 on these systems. The arrived on 19-Sept-17 so they should be the latest version.

So which BIOS version do you have installed?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

So in response to the other form you would like to know what generation CPU the 7050 has?

@msaglioc99 @Sebastian-Roth is asking for the exact bios version that is installed and the information which cpu is inside wouldn’t harm.

@msaglioc99 just for reference you can tell the version in the firmware on the General -> System information page, its right at the top. Also scroll down that page and look at Processor information, not the processor used so we can look up the generation. In my case the 7050 has an i5-6500 which is a skylake processor or a Gen 6 processor.

@msaglioc99 OK so we now have a few more datapoints (not an agreed solution only data points) .

You are running firmware 1.4.4 and my system is running 1.5.2. There is no additional releases between the two versions.

Here is what is fixed in the 1.5.2 release

                    Fixes & Enhancements
                    Fixes:
Addressed a SMART event reporting issue when using NVMe SSD.
Addressed a BIOS recovery issue when recovering from internal Hard Drive.
                    Addressed discrete graphic configuration incorrect.
Addressed no display with Intel Management remote control.

                    Enhancements:
Added the PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) option in BIOS menu.
                    Updated Computrace BIOS persistence module.
                    Updated processor microcode.
Updated Intel graphic VBIOS to 9.0.1051 version
                    Improve acoustic noise.

In other words nothing really that addresses this issue. I would still go ahead and update the firmware on the failing one to see if you can get it to register correctly.

As for the processor your system is running a Gen7 processor which means the Kaby Lake arch instead of what I’m running Sky Lake. Does this mean anything?? I don’t know at this point, only noting that its different.

Have you tried to place a dumb (unmanged) switch between your building switch and your 7050 computers on a consistent basis? Does this magically address your issues? There has to be something unique with either the 7050s or your networking infrastructure.

                      Updating the BIOS now.

@msaglioc99 I have two 7050s that I was having issues with (different issue), but I can confirm that they register and image ok. What version of FOG are you on?

Sorry I posted the wrong link to the BIOS Version but I did flash the BIOS on the system and upgrade to 1.5.2. Still did not resolve the issue.

                                    @msaglioc99 Weird, same.

Okay, let’s get in a bit closer. Do other machines on that same switch have any issues being inventoried by FOG?

No I am able to image and register other machines, and computer models. I only run into this issue with Dell Optiplex 7050’s.

@msaglioc99 clear screen shots of the error are always helpful to set the context of the error.

The Error is different every time. I will try and generate a couple of different scenarios. I’ve seen about 3 different Errors. Sometimes the screen comes up and lets me do the registration process but when I get to the end to enter the FOG GUI password it starts to write the password in plan text and just glitches out. Give me sometime to post screenshots.
