Deploying an Image to a Dell Optiplex 7050
-
Hi guys,
So our security administrator was looking at some of the settings of the host that has the VM of my FOG server. He says he didint make any changes, just viewed some data. Ever since he “viewed some data” I haven’t been able to deploy an image… I tried restarting all the FOG services and the machine it’s self. Nothing seems to be working. Can access the FOG Web GUI, and the Pxe boot screen comes up. Just unable to deploy an image. I’ll add an image of where it seems to be hanging. Any ideas ??

Check the server firewall settings. I remember running into this and the problem for me was Linux firewall settings.
-
So what am I looking for within the firewall settings of the Linux server? It’s running on Kububtu. Is there a specific setting you remember that needs to be turned on or off ?? Thanks !
-
@msaglioc99 I am guessing you are running 16. whatever but the command below. Turns off the firewall. With it off, try to deploy the image.
sudo ufw disable
-
I will try this command tomorrow when I’m back in the office thank you so much !
-
Running this command to disable the firewall did not solve the issue.
-
@tom-elliott @George76 any ideas?
-
@msaglioc99 Rerun the fog installer - see if that fixes it.
-
@Wayne-Workman Will this erase any data that is already in FOG ? Such as the custom pxe boot template I have uploaded, hosts, and even snapins?

If you’ve used the web interface to save the PXE code, no. Hosts and snapins, no.

is it possible to create a host by the webif without errors?
-
the op told me that he has the problem with a dell 7050, while a Optiplex 9020 works, so i think it could be related to this already solved thread:

yes it is, he told me.
-
@x23piracy Interesting, I just tested a 7050 and it pxe booted and registered correctly. The only exception here is that the model we are purchasing still has the 6th generation CPU (skylake) processors installed. Let me boot it and see what nic is installed.
-
@george1421 @msaglioc99 what about your bios versions in the 7050, compare please.
-
@x23piracy Sorry too many things going on this AM to stay focused here. The bios version is 1.5.2 on these systems. The arrived on 19-Sept-17 so they should be the latest version.

x23 remoted in and helped fix a couple minor things in regards to menu.
Talked with OP and found that the 7050 giving issues was not the case for ALL 7050’s. He pulled a different out and all seemed to work fine.
-
Hey,
i was remote on the system and we installed the current RC (switched to dev branch).
Helped him out with some sysprep lines, added to stop fog service, set it to disabled and so on.Seemed to work well but he still has a problem with the dell’s 7050’s but i have the feeling we have that spanning tree problem like here:
https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10512/dell-optiplex-7050-fails-to-pxe-bootThis is what he gets when trying an 7050:
The op will ask his network admin for a check, i suggested to connect fog and the client with a dump switch and then to the environment. This is not done yet.
The initial problem with the dell 7050’s isn’t solved yet!
@msaglioc99 any chance to give the thread subject a better name (subject) about the problem?Regards X23
