    • RE: Question About Windows Licensing

      Hi,

you have to get the key out of the bios from your machine, from what i can read you buy computers with preinstalled oem licenses in their bios. I can give you what i am using to activate, i have a binary that will display the bios key, i pipe that over to slmgr to inject the key and activate.

Write me a chat msg i have an additional hint for you.

    • RE: Webcam in use on Sysprepped image

      Hi,

with 1703 there was a change regarding to encoding, have a look to this and try it please:
      https://wccftech.com/fix-windows-10-webcam-issue-anniversary-update/

Windows 10 Anniversary Update drops support for webcams that rely on the H.264 and MJPEG compression type leading to video steams crashing or freezing up completely. Furthermore, it’s expected that Microsoft will release an update later this year, in September to be more precise, to patch things up as well. But only god knows how long of a wait that is, therefore we’re going to lay down a fix right here, right now, which will hopefully patch your webcam vows once and for all.

      Hi,

since it’s the system account place your installer in a share that can be accessed by anonymous.
Or use a snapin pack or something else that combines the installer into a package that makes the installer locally available.

@tom-elliott Hi Tom, sorry for the late answer, yes that sql statement solved my issue. Solved!

      UPDATE globalSettings
      SET settingCategory=‘FOG Boot Settings’
      WHERE settingKey
      IN (‘FOG_ADVANCED_MENU_LOGIN’,‘FOG_EFI_BOOT_EXIT_TYPE’,‘FOG_PXE_MENU_TIMEOUT’,‘FOG_PXE_MENU_HIDDEN’,‘FOG_PXE_ADVANCED’,‘FOG_KEY_SEQUENCE’,‘FOG_NO_MENU’,‘FOG_BOOT_EXIT_TYPE’,‘FOG_PXE_HIDDENMENU_TIMEOUT’,‘FOG_IPXE_MAIN_COLOURS’,‘FOG_IPXE_MAIN_CPAIRS’,‘FOG_IPXE_MAIN_FALLBACK_CPAIRS’,‘FOG_IPXE_VALID_HOST_COLOURS’,‘FOG_IPXE_INVALID_HOST_COLOURS’,‘FOG_IPXE_HOST_CPAIRS’,‘FOG_IPXE_BG_FILE’);

      Hi,

is the server behind a proxy? Even when you have set a system proxy you also need to specifiy the proxy in fog settings, afai remember versions can only be polled if you have specified the proxy in the settings:

      Hi,

place the files you want to copy in a share that the client can access at the moment when you execute your copy script.
You can also create self extracting package with the files aboard.

FYI, if you like two place font into the fonts folder you have to register that fonts, simply copy them will not work (search for fontreg.exe)

      Hi,

in normal you don’t need any autologons, i just use it because i am working with windows 10 pro oem where you cannot have setupcomplete.cmd executed automatically, therefore i used the autologon stuff with first logon commands in my unattend.xml.

If you don’t need to do anything special remove autologons in your unattend.xml

    • RE: Windows 10 1709 and Client 11.14

@uwpviolator is it possible that you have a autologon in your unattend.xml? If so i had two autologons in the past until the client doesnt needed reboots twice anymore, since that point i reduced auto logons to 1 instead of 2.

I am not sure but i think it was 11.12…

    • RE: It is possible to keep tmp file with snapin

      Hi,

      all msi’s are kept:

      https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2071860/where-the-msi-file-is-copied-after-the-installation

Does it not go into %windir%\installer
Though I think that the files may get renamed. Not sure where you get the name mapping from…
This directory gets very big so I move it to an external drive. This sometimes cause uninstalls or updates to fail with a missing msi error, but this can be fixed by putting the directory back

For the renamed MSI file check LocalPackage attribute inside registry at path - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData<InternalUserId>\Products<ProductGUID>\InstallProperties]. InternalUserId is something of sort S-1-5-18. ProductGUID is a GUID like 00058CD18F0BF523DA1072073D56715D embedded as a public property inside the MSI file.

      Hi,

using auto-delayed was a recommedation a long time in the wiki, then i don’t remember with which client version that should be solved and delayed was gone in the wiki.

I never changed it away from delayed because if this can prevent errors with the client why not stick with auto-delayed?
@Joe-Schmitt why is the client such petulant when there is no network when the service came up? Why can’t it just try and try again until network is working?

    • RE: Problem to mapping network drive using snapin with batch file

      Hi,

no way to do this if you need to do this with credentials, would be a security leak!
two possible solutions if you don’t give a * whos loggin in to this computer, place a file on the system with the desired net use line and execute it by registry hklm run or place the script in all users autostart.

Isn’t this a ADS env with the possibility of logon scripts?

    • RE: Windows 10 - Unpin Windows Store / Edge from Taskbar

      Hi,

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/configure-windows-10-taskbar
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/customize-and-export-start-layout

      Important:

If you use a provisioning package or import-startlayout to configure the taskbar, your configuration will be reapplied each time the explorer.exe process restarts. If your configuration pins an app and the user then unpins that app, the user’s change will be overwritten the next time the configuration is applied. To apply a taskbar configuration that allows users to make changes that will persist, apply your configuration by using Group Policy.

If you use Group Policy and your configuration only contains a taskbar layout, the default Windows tile layout will be applied and cannot be changed by users. If you use Group Policy and your configuration includes taskbar and a full Start layout, users can only make changes to the taskbar. If you use Group Policy and your configuration includes taskbar and a partial Start layout, users can make changes to the taskbar and to tile groups not defined in the partial Start layout.

I also used powershell to add a taskbar layout and had to find painfully out that changes are not persistant.
GPO would be the best choice here. If you don’t have an Active Directory Environment you can also use gpedit.msc before you image your golden.

Re: Windows 10 Pro OEM Sysprep & Imaging
      Saludos.
Me gustaria pedir ayuda.

      Hi,

you are on the wrong track, this reg file just imports a run command for a binary that changes the uuid in the eset agent db.
It’s nothing you need if you don’t install eset agent within your golden image. You can remove it.

But this will not solve your problem, it will not impact any activation stuff.

What kind of activation problems do you have?
Do you try to activate oem computers (with license in bios) with a key that you extracted from an preinstalled system from registry? If so you don’t have the real key, you need to read from bios and the usage of slmgr /ipk key and /ato to activate.

      I need more information.
