    • Ubuntu QEMU VM direct connect to FOG Server to Capture Image

      Hi,

      My setup :
Fog Server : resided at subnet A
Ubuntu Hyper V VM: resided at subnet B
Subnet B DHCP server not allow to configure FOG project pxe option

Goal: To use Ubuntu hyper V VM to spin up a QEMU VM direct connect to FOG Server to capture image.

Ubuntu Hyper V VM own by IT. I tried to use bridgenetwork & netplan to direct the network to the FOG Server network but fail to do that.

Is there any other option my QEMU VM able to direct connect to FOG Server to perform image capture?

@george1421 sorry there are some wrong info provided 1.5.9 is working as well due to some mistakes i made causing i providing wrong info.

New finding i found was 1.5.9 snp.efi came with ipxe 1.20.1 there is no issue on booting into the RHEL OS with REFIND_EFI
while 1.5.10 snp.efi that are using ipxe 1.21.1 having issue to boot into RHEL OS

As there are only 3 file being dl into the system
      1 snp.efi
      2. refind.conf
      3. refind_x64.efi

i perform comparison between these 3 file 1.5.9 vs 1.5.10

Is it possible that iPXE 1.21.1 require a newer version of refind_x64.efi ? Could you guide me on how can i troubleshoot further?

@george1421 im not using both SANBOOT or EXIT.

Im using REFIND_EFI and yes im just replacing the snp.efi in the tftp folder getting from 1.5.8 (success boot into Redhat i just try again few min ago) and 1.5.10 (failed with kernel panic)

EXIT i already tried. It wont boot into the OS. it will just exit into the BIOS screen

    • RHEL Initramfs unpacking failed: & Kernel panic - not syncing:

      Im using RHEL 9.0.0.

      Issue happen booting through rEFInd
It can simulate by “PXE boot > FOG iPXE Menu > Boot From Hard DIsk > rEFInd menu then error below occur”.

However if don’t pxe, direct boot into the disk there is no error occur. I have no idea why if boot via rEFInd will having this issue. I do try to use Internal EFI shell in BIOS manually boot RHEL Grub EFI file, it have no issue booting into the OS.

In order to use “Single Disk - Resizable” option during the installation CentOS for the /boot directory i use ext4 instead of xfs. As a result it can be capture without error but the image client size still remain the same size as the disk.

    • postinit script changing kernel parameter "fdrive"

      Hi,

I would like to change the Host Primary Disk at postinit script. For example from the Web UI, configura as /dev/sda but during capture or deploy I would like to change it to /dev/sdb at postinit script. May i know how can i achieve this?

Currently i’m trying with editing /proc/cmdline. Is this the right way to edit the kernel parameter or is there any better alternate ways?

      cat /proc/cmdline > /root/cmdline
##replace /root/cmdline content with new fdrive location --> in progress creating the replace script
      mount -n --bind -o ro /root/cmdline /proc/cmdline

    • Is there a way to identify the task failed?

      Hi,

Currently if there is an error during capture/deploy the tasks state will stay at in-progress and the system will keep rebooting to re-try.

I m working on automation to schedule task and deploy/capture but i would like to cancel the tasks if encounter error on the system and retrieve the error message. Could you guide me on any where i can retrieve these info?

I do look at the db tasks table dont seem to have a column storing these info.

      Thank You
