      Server: CentOS 7.4
      FOG: 1.4.4

Ye olde error when updating kernel. (currently 4.11.0)

Type: 2, File: /var/www/html/fog/lib/fog/fogftp.class.php, Line: 707, Message: ftp_put(): Could not create file., Host: 172.22.48.14, Username: fog

      Sorry I meant to say

      sc config InstallService start= demand

… typing through a cloud of mucus.

build … build … build means just that … build your image.

You want to ensure the store cannot update at any point after you’ve removed the packages, or else they re-download and install.

I strongly recommend you go back to bare metal so you don’t even see all those recommended apps you manually removed. Be sure to never let Windows see the internet until after you have configured the group policy, stopped the service, then restarted.

If it’s your OS partition just drop this into your unattend.xml

    • RE: Windows 10 1709 Fall Creators Update, AppX, and Sysprep

This is what I do to solve this:

      [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[F3]

      DISABLE Store AutoUpdates group policy

Computer \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Store
       - Turn off Automatic Download and Install of updates
       = ENABLED

DISABLE Windows Store Install Service (InstallService)

      CMD: net stop InstallService
CMD: sc config InstallService start= disabled
      REBOOT

      … build … build … build …

      Disconnect the network adapter

      REVERT the Store AutoUpdates policy

Computer \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Store
       - Turn off Automatic Download and Install of updates
       = not configured

You will notice that there is also now a Windows 8 specific entry that also changed itself to ENABLED. Click on it and it will also revert back to not-configured.

ENABLE Windows Store Install Service (InstallService)

CMD: sc config InstallService start= demand

sysprep-ahoy and shutdown. Turn your network adapter back on.

I prefer a more surgical approach to removing apps by removing them deliberately one at a time at the end right after disconnecting the adapter.

      Remove Apps from All Users

      Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName <packagename>

      Remove Apps from Current User

      Remove-AppxPackage -Package <packagename>

These are the apps that I recommend NOT be removed from 10v1709x64 (10.0.16299.15) GVLK:

Basically the same regardless of Host Kernel Argument; only a slight variation in the number displayed at the final line of output from the dump at completion.

HP ProBook x360 11 G1 EE Notebook PC with UEFI BIOS 01.09 or 01.10 (latest)

UEFI network boot succeeds via internal ethernet.
Manually selected tasks from FOG menu succeed but then fail to exit properly. eg: Quick Registration, Deploy Image

    • RE: printer installs for only one user account

It depends on what kind of user account is used and the kind of printer port.

For example, on our shared devices we have a roaming mandatory profile that is locally stored.

The profile was built with a place holder printer device using LPT1: then sysprep COPYPROFILE, then changed to a mandatory profile.

Changing the printer’s port and driver from an administrative account propagates to all profiles.

Using a print server and group policy it can get easier and trickier at the same time.

    • TFTP error oh my (ESX Server)

Playing with VMware ESXi Server 5.5.0. I’ve created a new version 7 VM of FOG 1.4.4 server on CentOS 7.x and a version 8 client VM . PXE booting the client I’m receiving the following error:

      TFTP.
      PXE-T00: Permission denied
PXE-E36: Error received from TFTP server

I thought the obvious so I played with permissions at various levels to the point that I blew away the server , the OS and rebuilt it all again from scratch, yet the error persists. I’ve stepped away and I’m looking for outside ideas… what am I missing?

I’ve not encountered this at all with either Hyper-V or Oracle VirtualBox

      grep tftp messages from /var/log

      Nov 9 13:23:55 [localhost] xinetd[861]: START: tftp pid=17084 from=192.168.148.128

      Then EXIT after 15 minutes.

Switching DHCP Scope Option 66 to another server on another subnet it PXE boots properly; so the network is fine.

Configuration of the server is extremely basic and hasn’t failed me for any server I’ve deployed yet as physical or virtual.

I’m not diving too deeply into this as I’m successfully fog’ing across the subnets right now, but I was hoping to setup a dedicated server using vmware.
