Thanks BryceZ
That did it, would you mind if i tidied up the page on the wiki to make it a bit more clear?
It works perfect if i make the changes to default using the text menu. But if i switch to gui it hangs, I think I need a clarification on:

Edit /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default to include the following DEFAULT option (only set this if you’re using the text based menu) and LABEL entry:
gui default.
DEFAULT vesamenu.c32
MENU TITLE FOG Computer Cloning Solution
MENU BACKGROUND fog/bg.png
MENU MASTER PASSWD $1$0VRbLZUP$Jg1l3BT4NEtJmxyFo8MSG.
MENU HIDDEN
MENU AUTOBOOT
menu color title1;36;44 #ffffffff #00000000 std
LABEL fog.local
localboot 0
MENU DEFAULT
MENU LABEL Boot from hard disk
TEXT HELP
Boot from the local hard drive.
If you are unsure, select this option.
ENDTEXT
Is there anyway to make this work with the gui boot menu? It just hangs at “booting from local disk” if you use the gui menu.
I just upgraded to .32 and I was curious if there is a computer group limit now. In .28 I was able to have a group of over 1000 computers. Now I Cannot, is it possible to increase this, or is there something wrong with my install?
Try using Google cached websites, that’s what I have been doing.
I cannot get the gui watcher working with the fog service in windows 7. I know it was set to be fixed in a already out release but I am curious as to it’s status.
Thanks
Any news on a release on .33, I am looking to upgrade from .28 but I don’t want to clean install to .32 and then have to upgrade to .33. I would much rather just go straight to .33
I have made a bit of progress, seems that there were some hung drivers that were locking the print spooler. Very hard to get rid of, but i was able to get 1 printer to add again. Anything more than that just fails.
Anyone using this service that can provide some tips, or a link to an article on using it?
I have my unattend file just randomly name the machine “win-jklsdf934” then let FOG rename the machine once sysprep is completed.
If i understand your question correctly, sysprep is hanging asking for a computer name, and you just want it to name the machine anything, then let FOG rename the machine accordingly?
This is the guide I use to sysprep and it has served me very well.

I also have noticed sometimes when i try to refresh my printers via the FOG tray I will get two popups, the first reads.
“Cannot Access a closed file.”
The second is in the attached file:
I also noticed When attempting to add and remove printers while someone is logged in I will get a message like this:

I have recently been messing with the printer manager with FOG and it seems to be hit or miss working based on one thing. On windows 7 there is a service named “Interactive Services Detection” I found by default if i tried to deploy a printer it would pop up in the background and when the notice was clicked on it would error out.
I set this to disable and everything works, but it broke one of our logon scripts. When set to automatic, the printer manager seems to be hit or miss.
Any input on this feature and what the recommended settings are?
Thanks
I have noticed that the GuiWatcher does not work on Windows 7. It puts the information in the log like it worked, but nothing ever pops up on screen, is there something that needs to be changed in the service to make this work?
Thanks
A move to 0.32 (0.33 is to be released soon I believe) is a must for Windows 7 deployment, no more fogprep and has a brand new web GUI over 0.28
I can’t comment on exactly what you want bit I have windows 7 both 32 and 64 images that I can deploy, auto renames, adds itself to the domain etc
And so far the latest kernel 3.2.4 (I think). Works on all 8 of my different desktop/laptops
Right, I do all those things you mentioned, the one thing I cannot do with anything over version .28 is have the fog host register host.
It’s not to have them automatically register with the service that I push out via GPO, so that I know in 6 months when I got to image the machine I can count on it being in the database.
I have machines spread out over 7 locations, so being able to go to in to FOG, know the machine is there, tell it to image , and it be imaged, named and added to the domain without me having to go to the location to PXE boot it because it never got registered before being rolled out to the site is a huge thing.
I’m just trying to figure out why it was removed, if it was causing issues, or if it just wasn’t requested.
Or if it’s possible if someone could help me integrate the funtion into a custom FOG service module:
http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Creating_Custom_FOG_Service_Modules
I Would think it would be fairly simple as taking the code from the earlier service module and adding it, but i’m not programmer.
Thanks for all the help.
I have been using FOG for many years now, and I am still on version .28 because we like the features of this version, and the ability of the FOG service (which we use for a ton of stuff) to enable us to register a machine out of the box, image the machine with a task, then rename and add that machine to AD.
I know this ability was taken out around version .29 for the service, and I am not sure why, or what the issues were.
If there is a way for me to enable this back into the newer services for I would be glad to do it. We are getting ready to deploy a bunch of windows 7 64 bit machines, and I thought it might be good to get on the latest version.
Or does it matter, can I continue to use the version .28 service with no issues.
I know of 10 or more school districts around me that have moved to FOG after we started using it a few years ago, and they have stuck to the old version for the same reason.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
