• RE: Fog Client - Silent Install - With IP Address/other settings?

I’m using the instructions here:
http://www.bauer-power.net/2011/09/how-to-deploy-fog-service-client-from.html

Then you can push it out any way you want, gpo, script, or just have an installer that doesn’t ask for anything when you run it.

• RE: Using Auto Log Out Service Restarts Win7 Machines

I have used the feature in the past without issues, it just seems once we pushed out SP1 to win 7 we started to see this issue.
The rebooting instead of logout doesn’t bother me, but the fact that it does not register activty does.

I put in a bug at:
http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/auto-log-out-restarting-even-during-activity.1136/

• RE: Using Auto Log Out Service Restarts Win7 Machines

I have:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Should we reboot even if someone is logged in?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

forcerestart=0

I know the default behavior is for it to restart in order to log out. But this is happening even if i am sitting typing an email.

• Auto Log Out Restarting even during activity

It seems with Windows 7 with SP1 the auto log out feature of the FOG service is restarting machines even if activity has occurred during the proposed time out.

I set the timeout for log out to 5 minutes and went about surfing around the web, and it would still shut down with mouse and keyboard inputs even up to the point where it started shutting the machine down.

The entry in the log reads:
8/11/2012 10:31 PM FOG::AutoLogOut restarting computer due to inactivity
Event Viewer reads:
The process C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe (ECH) has initiated the restart of computer ECH on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
Reason Code: 0x80070015

• RE: Printer Manager Windows 7 Service

Blackout gave me some more information to go on, i’m currently looking into the source of the printer manager.(no promises)

I think it has to do with the prinui commands used for a network printer install which I think it does by an per machine enumerated install.

afmrick I don’t think you understand what this is doing. it is loggingout/restarting the machines when a user is logged on working. So if you set the timoue for 5 minutes, when 5 minutes has passed, it is rebooting no matter what is going on.

• RE: Full UEFI-Deployment Support for Windows 7 x64

Just got hit with this issue on a couple new HP’s for a lab. Hoping I can work through it by disabling UEFI

EDIT: I was able to skip all my problems with UEFI by physically moving the sata port the dvd drive was plugged into on the motherboard, then booting to the legacy atapi option. That allowed me to skip the whole GPT issue.

• RE: Getting WOL to work across WAN

You will probably need use something like wireshark and look for the packets to see how far they are getting.
it uses UDP port 9 i believe so you may have to allow that to go in your router also.

Also you may want to remember that allowing ip-directed broadcast has the ability to flood your network with broadcast across sub nets unless you put something in place to mitigate that.

• RE: Multicast issues "Please Wait"

Issue solved.

It was a driver issue. The standard ubuntu driver was not working the way it should.

The driver is located here:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii.php

For the Broadcom card listed above you want the bnx2 and it is a simple make install to get it working. Hope this helps someone else.

http://drbl.sourceforge.net/faq/fine-print.php?path=./2_System/46_multicast_not_working.faq#46_multicast_not_working.faq

Put me on the right track for checking the driver.
