    • RE: Integrating Hirens Boot 15.2 into fog 1.2.0

      Thanks aaoyagi, when I realised nfs mount was needed it was easy.
      Do you happen to have a working menu for parted magic? I’ve tried both ways with the iso mounted and exported and just path to the iso
      Throws an error both times.

      UPDATE: looked over it one more time and tried what Tom suggested- removed raw and iso
      chain memdisk ||

      Working fine, thank you kindly

      @Sebastian-Roth
      Lets say I deploy an image to host1 and join it to the domain. I want to image host2 next, so I thought maybe delete or just rename the host1 to host2 and start the deployment?

      Looks like that worked, so I am just renaming the host since I’m using the same mac address

    • RE: FOG server with dhcp client registration

      @sebastian-roth said in FOG server with dhcp client registration:

      @Pikmin I don’t like guessing much so we should just take a look at the facts - the packets on the network that is. So get your client ready but don’t start it yet. Go to your FOG server and install tcpdump (sudo apt-get install tcpdump or sudo yum install tcpdump). Then run the following command and substitute x.x.x.x with the client’s IP address: tcpdump -w /tmp/boot_issue.pcap host x.x.x.x

      Leave that command sitting there, boot up the client till it shows the error “Either DHCP failed or …”. Now stop tcpdump (Ctrl+c). Upload the generated file /tmp/boot_issue.pcap to your dropbox/google drive and post a link here or send me a private message if you don’t want to share this with the rest of the world.

      I just went through the process of doing this when I discovered that after issuing spanning-tree portfast on all the interfaces it appears to be working now, so that’s the solution like in the other thread.
      Thanks again for all your help george1421 and Sebastian Roth, I won’t forget the porfast setting ever again

      Hi wonderful fog people

      fog version 1.5.9

      Device-2: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet driver: r8169
      IF: enp85s0 state: down mac: e8:6c:c7:72:04:54

      no configuration methods succeeded (http://ipxe.org/040ee186)

      The BIOS doesn’t allow the change to Legacy, so in UEFI mode

      I’ve tried realtek.efi, no luck

      There’s one other similar post on the forum but doesn’t appear to be resolved

      Anything I can try to troubleshoot?

      @george1421

      In BIOS Advanced
      Intel ® Rapid Storage Technology

      Intel ® RST 17.2.0.3790 RAID Driver

      Non-RAID Physical Disks:
      PCIe 1.0, Micron_2200_something_something

      Physical Disk Info
      Status: Non-RAID
      Controller Type: NVMe
      Controller Interface: NVMe

      I guess I’ll just set the SATA mode to AHCI for now, good enough for me.

      Thank you for your insight and help with the matter

      @george1421

      You want me to change back from AHCI to RST with Optane in the BIOS and then check the logs?

      I thought I pasted the output of uname -a from the debug

      EDIT:

      Set the BIOS SATA mode back to RST

      Only interesting thing I found is this, note syslog file doesn’t exist

      [Wed Feb 12 root@fogclient ~]# cat /var/log/messages | grep -i nvme
      Feb 12 10:12:05 fogclient user.warn kernel: ahci 0000:00:17.0: Found 1 remapped NVMe devices.

      1. Switching to legacy doesn’t make a difference

      2. I couldn’t see an option specifically for the NVMe but only for SATA, changed it and seems to be a success

      Onboard SATA Controller: Enabled
      NVMe Port 1: Enabled
      Onboard SATA Mode: RST with Optane (other option is AHCI)

      Thanks for your help George1421

      I just have to work out whether changing the SATA mode will have any problems with my image

      Thanks for the debug mode tip, nice to see ssh server is running

      Hello wonderful people,

      I’m unable to create an image due to the hdd not being detected.

      lsblk blkid shows no output

      The hdd is Micron 2200

      From what I’ve read I might have to upgrade to trunk, is there anything else to try beforehand?

      Thank you
