• Nvidiafb: unable ti setup mtrr

Hello,

I made a reply on another post about this problem, but I think it will be better if I make my own thread.

We have about 35 new computers that I have to FOG, the first comp is ready to create the image, but when I try to “Perform full host registration and inventory” (the PXE menu is all fine), computer stops 1s after loading the bzImage & init.gz with the error "nvidiafb: unable to setup mtrr.

I tried all kernels from Kernel-2.6.39.1.core to 3.8.8, the best I could get was with Kernel-2.6.35.7.kitchensink, I managed to make inventory, but when I try to load image, the filesystem displayed is “raw”, which means copy of the entire disk (931GB).

I can make all tests required to find a solution to my problem. The reason why it does not work IMHO is because the MB/Video is not old enough.

ANy help would be welcome.

• RE: Unable to setup MTRR

Hello,

I have the same issue as kcasper, but none of the kernels that any of you tried worked for me. 3.3.3 displayed me the same error as previous one (Unable to setup MTRR), the custom kernel made by Eric on the other topic made Kernel panic while loading, and 2.6.35.7 seems to have issue with file system, it display raw as file system, and copy the whole disk (931GB while only about 50G are used).

Anyone has idea to test? I am ready to retry with other kernels to see other error messages.

• RE: Multicast issue

Hello,

There is no /opt/fog/service/common/etc/config.php file, I supposed you meant /opt/fog/service/etc/config.php 🙂

service FOGMulticastManager status does not work, only start|stop|restart, start fail at first, but stop work, then start work, and still no multicast working 😞

I forgot something else in the “What I have already done list” : ip igmp on all my HP switches, and no router between FOG server and any of my clients.

update after some more tests: ps aux | grep udp returns something when I run “gunzip -c “/images/anyimagename” | /usr/local/sbin/udp-sender --min-receivers 2 --portbase 9000 --interface myInterface --half-duplex” manually from command line then connect with debug mode 2 clients, but still nothing when I start a new multicast task from fog management webpage.

• Multicast issue

Hello,

I have been trying to make multicast working fine for a while now, but i still get “Please wait…” forever on every screen. I tried to follow what has been told on the fog wiki about troubleshooting multicast (http://fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Troubleshooting_a_multicast), and everything worked fine, but multicast deployment still does not work when I start it using fog management page.

I edited /var/www/fog/commons/config.php and /opt/fog/service/etc/config.php so that my password is the good one for both file.

Here is what I already noticed that seems weird for my non_fog_expert eyes :

• I have no multicast.log file and no file at all under /opt/fog/log/
• When I start a multicast task, “ps aux | grep images” and “ps aux | grep udp” returns nothing
• I installed phpmyadmin, and there is no “fog” user in my users tab

Any help would be welcome 🙂

Thanks.

• Incomplete "Other information" page and other things

Hello there,

I noticed this morning that my “Other information” page appear not to be complete, the menu that should be on the left does not appear. When I edit the source code, it seems that some lines are missing.

I also noticed that when I try to deploy multiple computer (using group deployment) via unicast or multicast, FOG only creates a task for the first computer in the list. If I try to start the same task again for the same group, FOG adds the second computer in the group, etc… Then when computers boot, deployment work on unicast, but not on multicast, screen stay struck on “Please wait” forever.

I am working on 3 different schools, each with a FOG server I configured, and the other 2 never hit the same issue (not yet at least).

Using FOG 0.32, the issued one is running on a Dell Optiplex GX620

Any help would be welcomed, thanks.

• RE: Script in snapin

Ok after a day of tests, I can now tell that snapins are not the solution for my problem, as snapins seems to be working once the first user have logged on the computer (as I can see in the log file). So I am looking for a way to start a .cmd script AFTER the computername have been changed by FOG. Computer can be in the domain or not, it does not matter.

SFXMaker seems not to be the way of solving this, as my .cmd script is doing many things (creating a .txt file, running netsh.exe, and running a program that may join the computer to the domain if I want it), but thanks anyway for trying TheGremlin.

Thanks

• Script in snapin

Hello,

I am kindly new to fog, and wish I could adapt fog way to run in our school environnement.

Scenario:
Each school room have a standard name for each computer name in it, for example room n°15 have each computer named R15-PC01, R15-PC02, R15-PC03 etc. with R for Room.
After cloning, each computer runs a .cmd script that changes the IP adress according to its name, for example computer R15-PC03 will have ip adress 192.168.15.3
After ip is changed, this same script runs an executable to install network tool that do multiple things + connect the computer to Active Directory.

Problem is that when I try to use SnapIn to start the cmd script, it does nothing, It doesn’t even start it. I suppose that SnapIns run only when computer has been joined to the domain, so is there a way for me to run this script after the computer name have been changed, without asking fog to join a domain ?

Thanks
