but is it really necessary ? after all , once multicast has started all clients are synced , and there is no need to wait the same amount of time as before starting.
just a thought.
thanks
multicast 8 machines to windows 8.1 , on a dedicated network , time between partitions was two to three minutes.
i am wandering if this can be optimized , i have set the time interval for two minutes for fog to wait for clients before starting multicasting the image , but i don’t know if this parameter also accounted for between partitions.
using svn 2975.
thanks
fresh install on linux mint 17.1 32
i am trying to troublshoot multicast.
unicast works.

yes, the server is dhcp. i tried another switch , same resaults , i will test some more options, and update in the coming days.
thanks
simple 10/100 switch http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-SF1016DS
just one , the server and the clients
i havemanualy managed to send the log file to two clients , that went well, but gunzip recieve command just loaded the partiton image 0.6.9 inteface instead of recieving the file
Was this done in th last 10-15 days ? because i am using svn 2966 , and before 2922.
i dont know the mysql web interface address or if it is installed with fog at all,but thats outside the scope of this forum.
thanks
Got the same issue I had before. It gets to the partclone screen and just sits saying
"Starting to restore image (-) to device (/dev/sda1)
i am having this issue with multicast . upload/download images works ok ,but not multicast.
i do see one error that might be related and might not : “populating /dev using udev: udevd[2166]: error creating epoll fd: function not implemented”
any thoughts are welcome.
thanks
using svn 2966
is this intentioanl ? if this is to obscure the key , better change it to assterix or somthing.
there is no way for me to know if the key was accepted as i typed it in the web interface.
it looks like queres and black/white question marks
please advise.
locate it elsewhere or its default location . as long as an option to mount it is available , it will suffice.
just a small thing , but could be helpful , mount the /images folder at initial fog setup stage. Y/n Question that is.
thanx
one drive , formated to lvm pv.
how do i mount /images folder ?
do i need to create a new UUID ? howdo i do that ?
i have looked on wiki here : http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Moving_your_images_directory/Adding_Storage_to_the_Images_directory
but it misses the information i need.
please help tell me what to write at the CLI.
thanks
Webmaster should add fog version details as a field to be displayed on the user Icon to the left at the forums posts.
i am happy with the answers i have , thanks.
Hi Tom
no multi boot ,simple windows 8.1 with C partition for the system and D partition for the data . the first partition that i mentioned in the post is the windows boot partition.
i thought it was very odd that deploying the same image to two different computers will result with the different partition sizes , i deployed through multicast option, and for some reason one of the computers failed with file not found error on the “d1.original.partitions” or the other “d1.minimum.partitions” i cant remember now which one. but continued to deploy the image.
eventually i took “d1.original.partitions” from an image folder where i was happy with the sizes of the partitions, and used that.
i think it might be a good idea for future versions , to state the partition sizes on the web gui , perhaps even allowing to manipulate the size as the user see feet before deploying the image.
thanks again,
J
Helo,
I have deplopyed an image to two deferent hardware computers , and the first partition is 283 mb on one of them , but 3.11 GB on the other , the windows partition is 48GB on one of them , and 278GB on the other , and the data partition is 249.8GB on one , and 16.23 on the other.
where can i set at least the first and second partition ( not the last one wich can be what ever size is left on the disk)
thanks
this is important ( to me)
i Withdraw my last question.
turns out the partition chkdsk /f fixed something after all ,
and the image is been uploaded .
thank you for you patient and support.
i did the chkdsk , its all good . as for truly shutting down windows , when windows shutdown , it boot fast to windows (not truly shutting down ) but when restarting , and getting to the pxe boot menu , then it truly shut down. but i am going to search for a registry key change to make sure that no hibernation /sleep mode is taking place anyway , just to be on the safe side , though i am quite confident this is not the issue. , i wish there was an option to force the image upload as if to say : here is the disk , here are the partitions , flagged dirty or not , data corrupted or not , make the image ANYWAY.
let me asks this in a different way :
Is it possible to create the image under “Single disk realizable” but setup parameters to skip the resize on the upload , but if changes are required when deploying it , they will execute ?
i don’t understand why partition resize has to occur on the image rather on the partition to be deployed on , but then again , i am not a developer and i don’t know everything…
yes , it says hd=/dev/sda
and part=/dev/sda1
but perhaps this is wrong ?
what can i type to check ?
thank you for your assistance
