    • Multicast issue - stuck on starting to restore image

Greetings, I am using Fog 1.2 and trying to multicast a windows 7 image.
when the fist partition /dev/sda1 is restored I get the error , target partition size (212mb is smaller that source 213mb) use option -C to disable size checking(dangerous), it then goes on to with the screen showing starting to restore image to device /dev/sda2, but just hangs on this screen.
      please see output from /opt/fog/log/multicast.log.udpcast.10

      adminuser@FOG033srv:/opt/fog/log$ tail -f multicast.log.udpcast.10

    • RE: Force multicast to start

Thanks Tom, apologies perhaps I was unclear. I am aware of the max wait timeout, but wanted to check if there was a way of starting a multicast session when one or more host failed to join without using the max wait timeout? I.e. something like a force start command…
      Thanks very much,

    • Force multicast to start

Greetings all, using fog 1.2 is it possible to force a multicast session to start, say in the event that not all hosts in the multicast session were able to join, similar to the function whereby you can use a count down timer for hosts to join.

      Thanks very much

    • Unable to upload Linux image

      Greetings,

I am trying to upload a Linux (Centos) image using Fog0.32 , but have also tried latest update of Fog 0.33b
Centos has been installed using default options, and on FOG have selected linux as OS.
Fog 0.32 complains thet i have selected Linus as OS while Fog 0.33b. says invalid file system for the second partion.
Can you please advice under what setup or config it is possible to upload a Linux image.

      Many Thanks

Hi Tom, I have updated to v1117 this morning and tried to test multicasting, however I cant get it to work
I tried it using the different menu, i.e from with task mangement, and group management using multicast to deploy image.
the pc’s in the group stay on the partclone display but they dont start. Also the multicast.log has nothing other than “Checking if I am group manager” , udp-sender is not being called.

I have atached a screen shot of the access log, let me know if I can provide anything further to try troubleshoot, thanks Tom.

Hi Tom, Thanks for that information and for r1094 update. I have applied the update and this now uses the value on fog settings>FOG_UDPCAST_STARTINGPORT, however just to make you aware there is a minor typo in the {fogwebdir}/lib/fog/Host.class.php , line 641, there is space that needs to be removed to make is work.
Any idea where the udp-sender cmd is being sent from, as in order for multicast to work this cmd currently still needs to be send manually.
      Thanks again

    • RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33

      Hi Tom,
I have been able to get multitask to work by using a partly manual process,
I ran the following cmd on the fog server-
      gunzip -c “/images/win8/d1p1.img” | /usr/local/sbin/udp-sender --min-receivers 24 --portbase 63202 --interface eth1 --max-wait 90 --half-duplex --ttl 32 --nokbd;gunzip -c “/images/win8/d1p2.img” | /usr/local/sbin/udp-sender --min-receivers 24 --portbase 63202 --interface eth1 --max-wait 10 --half-duplex --ttl 32 --nokbd;
this then listens for host connecting ,
I then use the Fog to run a task to deploy to a group of ps using multitask, this the creates the job, in the /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/<pc mac address>
the contents of such a file is below,
      DEFAULT fog
      LABEL fog
      KERNEL fog/kernel/bzImage
      APPEND initrd=fog/images/init.gz root=/dev/ram0 rw ramdisk_size=127000 ip=dhcp dns= mac=2c:44:fd:10:20:63 ftp=197.168.1.7 storage=197.168.1.7:/images/ storageip=197.168.1.7 web=197.168.1.7/fog/ osid=6 loglevel=4 consoleblank=0 irqpoll chkdsk=0 img=win8 imgType=mps imgid=4 PIGZ_COMP=-9 hostname=dc8300 port=666 type=down mc=yes
Notice the PORT number is 666, I manually changed this on each is the files above to port 63202, when I ran the gunzip cmd using port 666 the multi tak did not seem to work and pc stayed waiting on the partclone screen.
Would you be able to help or point me in the right direction,
Which bit sets multitask to use port 666?, what mechanism caused the above gunzip cmd to run.
      Thanks Tom,
      Denis

    • RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33

I am using fog0.33b latest build as far as I know ( not sure how to check through) I have manged to upload a windows 8 image , using legacy boot devices, and have then deployed that image to another pc, worked ok. however each time I deploy an image after the partclone bit the the pc updates database , get cat:co.txt:no such file or directory…followed repeatedly by no active task found for host…( attached image) also I dont believe multicast is working with 0.33b , any update or help with any of these issues would be appriciated , thanks everyone !!
