Hi Tom

Yes its virtual box, we wondered if it was hard disk related on our SAN so we have migrated it to its on Raid 5 Host to see if that improves performence on the box. Its a noodle scratcher deffo but thank you for answering Tom i need all the help i can get lol

Hi tom

cheers for your reply, yes we have rebooted and although it does improve slighlty it then will start to gradually degrade to the point of connections being dropped, Im seeing a lot of tweaks mentioned on the web which scare me so just hoping someone has that golden fix

• SQL Help!!!

So sorry to post this on the Fog forum but im hoping theres some SQL gods out there who can help, Recently one of our Server 2003 SP2 SQL 2005 boxes has begun running dog slow with the CPU being pegged at 100%, Ive tried turning on named pipes and turning off Shared memory in SQL config manager afew tips that i found whilst googling but our clients are really struggling to get any sort off work done due to the servers performence. Has anyone had any experience with this and found a cure?

Sorry again for bumping this post with a non fog issue but given the amount of great techs on here i couldnt resist

• RE: PXE booting a DELL latitude 10 tablet problem

Good day all, Wusd I havent had chnace to have the call yet, we are in our busy period for students coming back so ive had to re-arrange the call, Also my boss is keen for these to go out so he wants them configured individually which is not ideal, Im trying to see if there is any software that takes an image through the OS or a back up of the drive to restore to another. I do think Dell have shot themselves in the foot here in regards to the image side of things.

Good day Wusd, yes its very disappointing to say the least but im sure we can find a solution on this, we need to put all our ideas together, so on your usb pen did you get the clonezilla iso into the menu selection for disc to disc option? Mine freezes at the option to select normal clonezilla or KMS selection just stays on the clonezilla.png. Ive got a phonecall with Dell support UK on Monday where im going to grill them big time and I will relay any info that makes anything clearer.

Good day Tom, thanks for your reply before, the nic driver for the Dock station is a SMSC LAN7500 driver i think it counts as a Usb nic driver. Again i think your right but i dont know what else to try with these units, We have loads of new UEFI bio’s enabled desktops but they all boot no problems at all, just theses pig of units.

cheers

Cheers guys for replying etc, It is going to be a head scrather to get to the bottom of, Ive been in again early today looking at more bits to try still nothing. Kiba have you been able to find the Legacy mode Roms option that is mentioned if you want UEFI turned off? the bios mentions it but i cant find the option anyware. Another thing i was pondering would a custom Kernal with the USB Nic driver in possibly help in getting the fog boot menu? im just getting frustrated with these tablets now there is no reason why they shouldnt be able to boot from Fog/Clonezilla.

Hi all, im experiencing the exact same issue, I even went as far as to change my DHCP server to 2012 with the Scope option 60 for Win 8 support but to no avail. Usb booting is a complete oddity I can see a splash screen on things like Clonezilla but no further.

• Issues with Dell Latitude 10 using fog

Hi all

Well after almost 2 weeks of banging my head against a brick wall with the Dell latitude 10 Tablet ive come to the fog gods to ask for help. The problem is trying to get these units to talk Pxe to fog to allow an image to be taken, It assigns an Ip and then just trys to boot the OS no Fog Menu. Ive upgraded the BIOs to latest revision A06, i have even tried moving my DHCP server from 2K3 server to 2012 with the newly added Scope option 60 for Windows 8 clients to see apparently, and still nothing. What makes this even more of a pain is you cant USB boot Clonezilla either which is my Belt and Braces imaging system if Fog throws a wobbily. im hoping someone out there is in the same boat and has a good tutorial to follow to resolve this. Any help would really help

thank you

• RE: Mac images

Thank you for your response, we are using deploystudio but we are looking from a belt and braces point of view, a back up scenario off the main network so we can use the fall back images, hope this makes sense, everything involving Macs seems to be money orientated so having fog provide this scenario would be great

• New Fog build not deploying images

Hi all

Ive got an annoying issue my current fog server is about 2GB away from giving up the ghost so i have created a new Virtual box image with added /images folder of 1.5 TB of space. My problem is i can upload an image no problem but deploying it says i cant mount the NFS store check the .mntcheck file, ive googled this error and seems to be a very common issue done all the suggestions about doing the touch .mntcheck and still no avail, when i run that command i still never see a file called mntcheck anywere near the /images directory. I guess my problem is im not a linux techie so i have no idea what permissions should be set. Can anyone clear up for me the exact perms i need and commands to get this working, its been such a long time since the last box was built and im pulling my hair out starting early mornings staying late trying to get this to push images out again… The fog system is by far the best thing ive seen even with these niggles just need a linux wiz kid to point me in the right direction
Good evening to all
