Yes to all three if you use FOG 1.5.10.

Transferred to github to we don’t loose track of it: https://github.com/FOGProject/fos/issues/48

I also seem to be having an issue with machines not changing their hostname to match what they’re known as to the FOG server. We’re using Windows 10 on the clients. I’ve installed the FOG client, set the address of the FOG server for the client and it has worked for most of the machines but not all. They’re all on the same network / switch but there are two types of PC with different network adapters if that could make a difference?

Just figured this part of your request is still open. Not a great idea to ask for several different things in one topic. As Wayne said early on we need the fog-client log (usually in C:\fog.log) to be able to help. Probably best if you open a new topic if this is still an issue for you - and post fog-client logs as well.

      Oops!

Turns out I can delete groups OK. I suspect what was going on is I’d had a long and stressful day and the password it was autofilling that I was mindlessly accepting was wrong. Today I manually typed the password of the FOG user and it worked.

      Please excuse my noise!

      @george1421

      Thanks George!

I had seen people talking about updating the kernel on here but I presumed they meant the FOG server kernel but now I realise that the FOG kernel is distinct from the kernel used by the FOG server. After updating the FOG kernel via the web UI FOG seems to be working on our new machines.

First, why is there so little content on the FOG wiki FAQ page?

Would you be keen to help work on the documentation?

@danboid said in Linux mdraid RAID-10 with FOG?:

software RAID built into the Linux kernel

These are the words I was looking for to give a direction. mdraid can be used for more than just the intel fake raid as you referenced previously.

Yes FOS linux (the engine that interacts with the target computer to capture and deploy images) can interact with a software raid.

the same rules for FOG imaging as with clonezilla. If the software raid doesn’t exist you must create it before you can image it. You could test to see if it exists in a FOG post init script, If your deployment mode is download then you could create a bash script to create the array. Post init scripts are executed just after the FOS OS inits and before any imaging begins. The tutorial you referenced before lays out all of the bits you need, just in this case you are not setting up the intel fake raid configuration.

@danboid Thanks for you detailed write up on setting up FOG!

I just tried to edit the first post but I was denied. Could we ditch this rule please, at least for this post?

I didn’t know the forum has such a rule. @Tom-Elliott Do you know if it’s possible to allow editing own posts for users as well?

Here is another comment: We don’t suggest running the installer via sudo directly because the environment variables is different on some Linux systems (and can cause issues!) compared to switching over to the root user via sudo -i or sudo su -.
