    • TFTP Timeout

      OK,
So I have tried many things from this forum and the internet without results.

      I am running Ubuntu 12.04
      Fog Version 1.2.0
      New Server from scratch

I have one working 1.2.0 fog server in the US and now I am trying to setup a new server in Mexico. I have made sure the firewall is turned of and tested the tftp via command line (tftp -v x.x.x.x -c get undionly.kpxe returns received bytes in 0.8 seconds)

The DHCP server in Mexico is a Barracuda firewall that has the 66 67 options defined. My server in the US is using Microsoft DHCP with 66 and 67 defined.

So far this is what I have found regarding the differences between the working US server and my new server in Mexico. Using Filezilla I am able to ftp into the US server. The Mexico server gives me a login incorrect error. I have made sure the password is correct in the TFTP Settings via Fog web config page. Is there some other place that I can check for a password on the server?

When I try to boot a machine via LAN I obtain an IP address, but then TFTP server times out.

      Thanks everyone

    • Fog 1.1.2 Cannot Upload - Stuck on Using Hard Disk: /dev/sda

      Hello,
I have one working Lenovo T440s that will upload an image, but when I try to use a T430 with a 256GB SSD it refuses to upload the image.

      Info

      • Trying to upload a sysprepped Windows 8.1 image
      • SSD is a Lite-ON LCS-256M6S
      • Fog compatibility check says I have a GPT table, but I am missing a fake MS-DOS reference
      • Using Kernel 3.15.4 TomElliott (x86_64)
      • I have tried the 3.14.2 TomElliott Kernel as well (64 bit)

Is this a Kernel issue? What logs should I review? I seem to remember looking at Apache logs in the past, is this still the case to troubleshoot v.1.x.x?

I went back through my steps and the config I used was off of my FOG server. Location is /opt/fog-setup/fog_0.32/kernel/kitchensink.config. I copied that to the Fedora machine (/usr/src/linux-3.12.6/.config) Do you want kitchensink.config from my FOG server? I would bet you already have it.

      Tom,
I would post it, but I had Fedora 20 on the T440s and after I tested the T440p with my kernel and it worked I tested the T440s. I was so excited it was working that I didn’t backup the /usr/src/linux-3.12.6 directory before I wiped it with FOG.

I have tested my kernel with both the T440p and the T440s, both working. It is based off of Linux kernel version 3.12.6.

      Tom,

I will try to test your kernel. I finished making my custom kernel and it is working.

Another question would be, does FOG depend on the OS at all? I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64. Would it be better to choose a more current OS?

That is the first thing I did was go full legacy in the BIOS. Are there any models that have worked with FOG that have the 4th gen Intel mobile processor?

I just received in a Lenovo T440p and it is freezing at the same point as the T440s, however the T440p doesn’t have a SSD cache.

The 3.8.8 kernel also freezes at the same point in debug mode.

The system I am testing with is a Lenovo T440s with a mechanical 500GB HDD and a 16GB SSD to be used as a cache. I have attached the debug screen and it looks like it might be hanging up on the SSD. Tom what do you think.

      Tom,

I backed up the current kernel and copied the kernel I downloaded from your link to the server. After that I just booted to network and choose full registration.

      Tom,

Thank you very much for your help on this. As you suspected it did not work. I have attached an image of the output. I have now waited 15 min. with no movement.

I have the new Lenovo T440s that has the same issue. I will try Tom’s firmware and report back.

As a side note my X1 Carbon has a SSD and works great with fog after updating to 3.8.8.

Has anyone gotten the new Lenovo T440s to work with Fog? I have the latest kernel installed and cannot get it to register.

If it helps I am running FOG on top of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server with no GUI. Also, it helps to make sure your linux is fully updated. In ubuntu use the following commands.

      sudo apt-get upgrade
      sudo apt-get update
