Off the top of my head I’d say it’s a permissions issue. It looks like you’re only giving access to the owner (in this case jhnowaki), which may not match the read access needed for TFTP… try chmod 644 on chain.c32 pxelinux.0 and vesamenu.c32, just to make sure it’s not a read issue.

RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33
I just pulled the latest SVN and was able to confirm the blank loading. With display_errors = On in php.ini:
Warning: call_user_method_array() expects exactly 3 parameters, 2 given in /var/www/fog/lib/fog/FOGPageManager.class.php on line 133
Loads directly below the Dashboard header. -
RE: Change DHCP scope options
There is a FOG wiki article that deals with unmodifiable DHCP server, which may be what you’re looking for.

RE: Multicast problem fog 0.32 on centOS 5.6
Another thing that slows down multicasts is actually the performance of the hosts themselves. During a mutlicast the FOG server sends out the image in chunks and waits to get confirmation from each host that they’re ready for the next chunk, so if one host has a bad hard drive or any other issue with receiving and writing the chunk to disk it’ll slow down the entire session.

RE: How I can image 10 computers at the same time
There is documentation on this in the FOG wiki, but here is a quick guide. There are two ways of doing this.
[]Unicast - In the FOG web console: Storage Groups->All Storage Nodes->(Storage Node) Edit, adjust the Max Clients setting to the maximum number of concurrent unicast sessions.
[]Multicast - In the FOG web console: Host Search, search for the hosts you want to multicast with and create a Host Group. Go to Host Groups->(Host Group Name) Edit->Image Association, select the image you want to deploy. Go to OS Association, select the correct OS Association for that image. Go to Tasks, search for the host group, select multicast.

RE: Can different versions of FOG work together?
I can’t think of any issues between .28 nodes and a .32 master, since most of the communication between them is directly through the database, which I don’t recall having any changes. I would suggest building a new .32 server and .28 node just to test with, but I can’t think of any issues that would come from it. Please post any updates on your progress, I’d be interested to see how it goes, and if there are any issues I’m sure we can help sort them out.

RE: PXE boot flying past the boot screen
Check the /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/ directory on the FOG server for the file 01-<MAC ADDRESS>. Delete it.

RE: Multicast problem fog 0.32 on centOS 5.6
What’s your CPU usage look like? With unicasting FOG pushes a compressed image file, which the client uncompresses as it receives it; with multicast FOG uncompresses the image files and then pushes them out. So it could be an issue of failing to uncompress that second partition. Have you been able to unicast this image? Or maybe multicast to a smaller number of hosts?

RE: Bugs in FOG 0.33
Astrouga, unless they’ve decided to change the way the /images directory creates and stores images, the /etc/exports file is correct. /images is for storing files that have been uploaded. /images/dev is for writing the image during the upload process. Once an image has completed uploading it is moved from /images/dev to /images. It’s to prevent people from just connecting over NFS to the /images share and start messing with image files.
Thanks for tracking down all these bugs. Knowing where things break makes it easier to find what’s wrong or hasn’t been converted yet.

RE: FOG 0.33 - What's coming?
Things have slowed down recently due to the fact that the devs have real jobs and FOG doesn’t pay the bills. But if anyone is interested in taking the time to pull from the SVN and do some initial bug testing, keeping in mind that it is NOT production ready, then feel free to post any bugs you find in the Bugs in FOG 0.33 thread. This isn’t really a beta or RC yet, but it’s getting close, and adventurous devs or sysadmins might be able to help move things along.

Bugs in FOG 0.33
The developers have real jobs that do take up a lot of their time, causing development of FOG 0.33 to slow down from time to time. Currently the SVN repository is somewhere near a beta stage, with some aspects still awaiting further rewrites, which means FOG 0.33 is NOT production ready. If anyone feels up to the task of pulling down the repository and posting any bugs they might find it could help move things along. Please use this thread to track any initial bug reports for FOG 0.33, and if necessary we can split some bugs off on their own thread.

RE: Feature Request: 'Rename Host in FOG database' option on the PXE menu
What you’re looking for is /etc/init.d/S99fog in the boot image (/tftpboot/fog/images/init.gz).
cp /tftpboot/fog/images/init.gz /tftpboot/fog/images/init.gz.BACKUP
gunzip /tftpboot/fog/images/init.gz
mkdir /mnt/init
mount -o loop /tftpboot/fog/images/init /mnt/init
That will get you into the mounted boot image to make whatever changes you like, and when you’re done…
umount /mnt/init
gzip /tftpboot/fog/images/init
You’ll most likely need to write a new php script on the web server side, something like the service scripts where you can POST the MAC address of the host and it’s new name.
Best of luck!

RE: Optiplex390 rebooting loop, can't do NIC as first boot option
Chuckc1981, you are correct, chainloading is the workaround. Some Dell models have a BIOS issue that doesn’t allow them to recognize localboot 0, which causes the boot loop.

RE: PXEBoot Loop Boot
Chainloading fixes this issue.

RE: Next upgrade of FOG/Ubuntu
Have you tried running the installer from ~/Desktop/fog_0.32/bin/ yet? I seem to recall the install script having a hard time with relative paths if you don’t launch the script from it’s current directory.

RE: Dell OptiPlex 790 in loop
Peter, you probably want to look into chainloading.

RE: Download image stops at preparing disk (Stage 2)
Sounds like you might have a dying hard drive. I’d suggest swapping in a known working hard drive and trying to push the image again. Another thing to check would be your BIOS settings; what sata mode is set?
