This message is telling me that either you change the password of the linux user fog’s password on the storage node or the settings in the storage node configuration on the master fog server is incorrect.

Understand this is the FOG service account called fog not the web ui’s default administrator account also called fog

@Bigredcherokee I have seen people in the past “think” they can use this account for system administration, they install FOG and the installer takes over this account and gives it a new password. The admin then resets the password on the fog account that’s where things usually go sideways. FOG will throw a similar error to what you last posted when this happens.

You will also see a similar error when you try to capture an image. Right at the end of the capture it will fail with an error about unable to update the fog database. That is an indication that the fog service account’s password has changed.

@Andy-Abplanalp I get it mixed up, it’s the one that has a boot rom in it normally. It’s description says its just a place holder.

@Tom-Elliott For future readers, I’ll add that if you HAVE to do an export in this fashion - you probably have much larger issues…

FOG has a built in DB export tool; this is how you get to it:
FOG Configuration -> Configuration Save -> Export
That copies everything from the DB - literally everything.

The Import tool is in the same spot and it does work.

If for some reason the FOG front-end is broke and you can’t use it to import/export - you can do the same thing manually. Examples are here in the WiKi: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Troubleshoot_MySQL

I think so but I imagine that if you re-run the fog installer, it may help work out its own kinks?
