RE: Updating Client
@Tom-Elliott Did you work out the bug with the SQLSTATE issue from yesterday? I built a server and rand into that with the latest trunk and was following a post on it but when I left for the day you didn’t quite get it worked out. I am on 5705 I think that was on 5725?

Updating Client
This may sound like a s silly question but where can I grab the updated 0.11 version of the fog client? Or do I need to update to he latest trunk in order to grab it from the fogmanagemnt/fog/client page?

RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Wayne-Workman You’re probably right! I just compared with my storage Node and there was only one / in the FTP_Path on the storage node.
Man I am learning all kinds of things.

RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Wayne-Workman I’ll take it out and see what it does. Would it not save to /images/dev/ though? Just curious
-
RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Quazz There is not in /images but there is in the the /images/dev/“macaddress”
@Wayne-Workman Is there not supposed to be two // in it?
-
RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Wayne-Workman Thats what I got, Looks rtight to me. Thats what it has look like previously
-
RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Quazz Yep, though I don’t see anything about FTP user/pass in there. Only for the mySQL stuff.
@Wayne-Workman Yes I am as sure as Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V. Thats how I connected with WinSCP and i double checked by hand using Windows command line.
-
RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Wayne-Workman I just double check again using WinSCP, I connected with the fog username and password and I was able to create a TEST directory on the fog server from my windows machine and then delete the /TEST folder
Its got to be that I am missing a password somewhere…
-
RE: More quirks after upgrade
@Wayne-Workman Yep didn’t say that but I have tried a browser on a windows machine to ftp with the fog user and my set password.
I have also tried WinSCP to tftp as a test

RE: More quirks after upgrade
Tried:
chown fog -R /images
chmod -R 777 /imagesDo i need to set the permission o the /images/dev in order to get them out of there? It seems like it’s copying them to that folder fine. just not FTP’ing them to the /images folder.

More quirks after upgrade
Just upgraded to version 8155 SVN 5705, Can’t seem to upload an image, Image goes all the way though and then I get the error;
Error type 2: File: /var/www/fog/lib/fog/fogftp.class.php, Line 153, Message: ftp_put (): Could not create File., Host 10.1.0.134
your typical FTP error it seems.
I have read the troubleshooting FTP Wiki and did a search on the fog Forum but nothing exactly matched my problem. I verified all passwords in Web GUI, Storage Node, Fog user on Server, and TFTP_Server settings all have the same username and password.
I am probably overlooking something maybe one of you guys can see?

RE: Another slow Deployment qustion
@george1421 Pretty much, It would just be cool to say we have 10gb to the desktop… A SSD drive would be sweet though!

RE: Another slow Deployment qustion
@Wayne-Workman Sorry I concatenated @Sebastian-Roth’s and your reply in my head.

RE: Another slow Deployment qustion
Great replies guy! I thought that the rate was always the network transfer speed and not the write speed…
@Wayne-Workman I am in now way discrediting your method. I just don’t think its the best set up for the needs that we have right now. I want to stay away from multicast for now as we dont have out layer 3 switch/router configured to pass broadcast packets as we have had several issues with staff Looping the network and bringing down everything instead of just one building (this was also before we turned spanning tree on), and I know my boss wont be a fan of increasing the broadcast domain even if was just for the summer.
on top of that we don’t have the time to build more storage nodes for fog so it’s kind of a trade off yes they image slower but at the same time the you’re doing 10 at a time per storage node (20 at a time in my case 1 master + 1 storage) and 800MB-PM is plenty acceptable for what we need it for.
@george1421 Maybe at some point I could convince my boss to throw a 10gb NIC and some decent hardware for our fog server in the budget. I could try some of the stuff you are suggesting. and that would really boost the speed right up.
If we could ever get it 10gb to the end PC the only thing slowing the process down would be the human factor!

RE: Another slow Deployment qustion
I think I may have figured it out. After I was able to upgrade the master server to the latest trunk we were still having troubles. One of my coworkers noticed that the ones that were going slow were loading and connection to the Storage node (version .32) So I unplugged and and removed it from the master server, that seemed to speed everything up. I can now image 10 machines at 800MB-PM which for me is more than acceptable.
My best guess is thatit was a combination of the master server was offloading the work to the storage server which is not very good hardware, on top of the fact that it was deploying a windows 10 image with fog version .32 which has no idea windows 10 existed… So I am planning on building a few more storage nodes since they are rather simple to build and we should be able to image 20 machines at 800MB-PM (in theory).
Thanks for all the help and suggestions guy!

RE: Another slow Deployment qustion
@Sebastian-Roth I will have to look into that once I can get a storage server built for every Subnet. But for right now thats more work on our switches/router then I want to do just yet.

RE: Upgrade Gone Wrong......
@Tom-Elliott You’re then MAN!!!
That did it. Once I was able to get the GUI back up it said that It couldn’t communicate with the database. I was able to connect with the database using root and blank password but when I checked the config.class.php I had some text where the password field is. I wiped that out, saved it and refreshed the page and it was asking me to update the database Schema which it should. I took a SQL backup and updated it.
Should be back up and running. downloading an image now! Maybe that will fix my slow imaging problem too who knows.
