@sebastian-roth I forgot to mention, since I only saw it once, but on one of the startups with REFIND_EFI selected and before changing “scan_delay” to 0 the computer attempted to boot into “automatic repair” mode but froze on the screen. After rebooting the PC I wasn’t able to reproduce that.

@Tom-Elliott, I imagine the situation is “you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t”. It will fix some and break others. However, having the option in the GUI would be useful.

Well, I got some good news. I was able to get a successful multicast going tonight. I am not 100% sure of what fixed it. I did several things.

      Not in particular order:

Updated FOG to trunk Disabled IGMP snooping from the switches Made a change to CentOS as seen here that has to do with routing (honestly don’t think this helped) Added 232.168.1.0 for FOG_MULTICAST_ADDRESS (it wouldn’t work without that)

I plan to do more tests to really make sure it is working tomorrow and the following days. I will keep this updated if anything substantial changes.

      Thank you to everyone.

@arainero Thanks for reporting back so quickly! Great to hear that I was on the right track and this seams to be fixed for you. Please do not upgrade (run the installer again) yet as we are still waiting for others to report back if their (closely related) issues are fixed as well. Tom won’t update the init files till we hear back from them. So your issue would come back if you’d upgrade just now. Feel free to ask about upgrading here in this thread by the end of next week again. Hopefully we know more from the others by then and have updated the inits as well.

      Tom ElliottT

Remoted in and found that the files in /opt/fog/{service,etc} were having problems for some reason. Deleted them and installed again and all appears to have worked properly.

I believe I found the culprit. I noticed that the USB 3.0 drivers were missing and after installing those and reimaging, everything seemed to work.

It was still odd that this only happened after registering the computer to FOG though. The keyboard and mouse were these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823129036&cm_re=cm_storm--23-129-036--Product . They have back lights, but other than that nothing special.

It was indeed not having partitions on the drives and on some computers the SATA cables were in different order than other drives. After following your fdisk drive and making all the computers have the same SATA order everything worked.

I went one step further and copied the partition layout and size byte for byte during fdisk of a working computer. I wasn’t sure if that step was necessary, but it worked nonetheless.

      Thank you.
