      Just to be clear on this, every time computer X boots you want to deploy image A to that system? Every single time?

        @george1421 I wouldn’t think so.

        @EAHarvey The boot order on every single host in your environment needs adjusted to boot to the network first & to have WOL enabled, and your images need the FOG Client built into them, and the FOG Client deployed to existing hosts too. After these things are completed, you can deploy to an entire group via the web interface and everything happens ‘automatically’.

        How to get those two firmware configuration changes done is absolutely and totally dependent on the make & model of the systems in your environment.

        If they are all Dell - there is a Dell utility that lets you build EXEs to adjust the firmware with specific settings but even that’s flaky because I’m sure you’ll have older models mixed with newer models and older firmware versions mixed with newer ones.

        If you have systems besides Dell, well obviously the Dell utility won’t work on Lenovos or HPs or IBMs. Those may or may not have an equivalent tool.

        It will probably take longer trying to put together some master en-mass deployment than it would take to just make these changes manually as you need to image.

        What I did was just manually adjust systems as I needed to image them and over the span of 1 year I got them all adjusted eventually. Then I could click group -> deploy and that entire group would boot up (or reboot) and image, then join the domain, and be ready for use shortly after.

          I thought I remembered something like a preboot addin or something like that. When I first started working on this stuf during 1.2, we had separate part of fog that the machine would boot too and image. For the life of me I can’t remember what it was called. It gave another option to boot. Does this sound familiar at all?

              @EAHarvey Again, I want to clarify what you are asking.

              1. I power on a computer, it magically boots into something and receives a new image without touching the computer?

              2. I power up the computer and get to the fog ipxe menu. If it don’t touch the computer it will boot to the OS already installed. But if I do touch the computer, I can select quick image and a new image is deployed to that computer (without needing to touch the FOG console).

              Your question could be read multiple ways.

                @Wayne-Workman maybe it was that. I’m trying to look into group stuff also.

                    @EAHarvey capone was mostly for un-registered systems. This is ideal for a refurbishing shop or computer repair shop, not for managing a system over its lifespan.
