    • OS: Ubuntu 10.04

    Description

    Hello,

I try to use a multicast to deploy image on a Dell Optiplex 7040. But multicast not starting. Starting to restore image (-) to device (/dev/sda1)

    Log File:
    [12-14-16 2:17:06 pm] * No tasks found!
[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | Task (129) Test Multicast is new!

[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | Task (129) Test Multicast sending on base port: 64926
    [12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] CMD:
[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | Task (129) Test Multicast failed to start!
    [12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | * Don’t panic, check all your settings!
[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | even if the interface is incorrect the task won’t start.
[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | If all else fails run the following command and see what it says:
    [12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] |
[12-14-16 2:17:16 pm] | Task (129) Test Multicast has been cleaned.
    [12-14-16 2:17:26 pm] * No tasks found!
    [12-14-16 2:17:36 pm] * No tasks found!

However, the classic deployment on this same machine works.

Moreover, the multicast works on other model of machines.

Do you have any idea ?

    Thank you in advance.

But can you confirm these other models are on the same network as the one the Optiplex 7040 is on? How about taking one of those other models and connecting it to the network port that your troublesome Optiplex 7040 was connected to and try that other model with multicast again?

I don’t think the models are to blame, I think it’s a network issue. Do the above test please and let us know how it goes. If that doesn’t work, I have another test.

        Hello,

The Dell Optiplex 7040 is in the same network as the other models. The other models have not problem for multicast.
        What is the another test?

        Thanks.

do yourself a big favor and upgrade your server OS and version of FOG. even if that doesn’t make muilticast work for you (it might) it will make your unicast deployments go faster, and make troubleshooting your issue easier for us.

As a mode of reference, this typically occurred because of the storage node network interface. If it couldn’t match the interface, the files couldn’t be found to enable the command.

As @Junkhacker stated you would be best to update to the newer series of FOG as many of these things have been corrected for and we have more direct capabilities to help troubleshoot.

I’d recommend the 1.3.5-RC’s particularly if your Server OS is Ubuntu flavored.
