New Network Adapter Changeover

Hello everyone, we are running Fog 1.2.0 on Kubuntu 14.04, and all seems to be well, except our fog server is using an integrated 10/100 NIC. I have a gigabit NIC I would like to install, but I can not find any documentation on how to properly inform Fog to use the new NIC instead of the old. Google has not been much help I’m afraid.

You’d install the NIC as normal, configure an address for it at the Linux OS level, and then go through the process of changing FOG’s IP. Some basic steps are here, we need to elaborate on them further though.

@Wayne-Workman You’d also need to change the interfaces in the relevant locations, no? I’m thinking of the storage nodes and multicast settings mostly.

@Quazz Correct. Those instructions are just for changing IP. If you’re changing interfaces, you’d need to change all the interface stuff too.

I plan on replacing the adapter, so I already configured the same IP as before on the new adapter. As far as storage nodes, I am using the servers internal storage. Where are the interface specific settings that are mentioned?

@AngryScientist In the web interface, in Storage Management. There’s a field called interface. Also, in FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings -> Multicast Settings -> FOG_UDPCAST_INTERFACE
