Hello I’m new to this form and new to Ubuntu. With a lot of help I configured my own( version 1.2.0) FOG server but can’t seem to PXE boot to the server. Here’s the error message:" Could not start download: Operation not supported /3c892003". What I have seen on-line the error has something to do with timing out. again I’m very new to Ubuntu and FOG software. Any help would be great!!

Can you provide a photo of the error? And what version of Ubuntu?

@cnbgeren Did you change the fog server’s IP after installation?

@cnbgeren What do you have listed for dhcp options 66 {next-server] and 67 {bootfile}?

It looks like the ipxe kernel is getting to the target computer, its just not taking the next step.

It would be interesting to know if the IP address listed in /tftpboot/default.ipxe (on the fog server) is inline with the current IP address of your FOG server.

Also it would be interested to know what the output of this browser request is:

              http://<fog_server_ip>/fog/service/ipxe/boot.php?mac=00:00:00:00:00:00

Please paste the output page here.

@cnbgeren said in PXE boot issue:

My DNS IP address looks to be different then what is shown in the boot file. Could that cause the error?

@cnbgeren not sure I understand. Is the IP address of your fog server 192.168.1.4?

If you are unsure you can use the “ip addr show” command.

I just troubleshot this error. This is because of the DHCP service not having option 66 and option 67 configured. See this image.

                                0_1470108686368_upload-f7a42f5f-2878-4660-8044-9bfd0cffc409

The inside highlighted value for option 66 should be the static IP address that you are setting your FOG server on.

                                0_1470108746588_upload-0f6ed2a6-d385-4a9b-8c72-548de9e2944b

Option 67 should be (most commonly) undionly.kpxe

You can also make sure that the DHCP service is started on your server, and that TFTP is enabled on your windows machine(s).

I recommend following this guide, as it helped me tons. https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=FOG_on_an_Isolated_Network

@cnbgeren We have seen this happening with weird DHCP setups. Please make sure you have only one DHCP server answering within your subnet! As well you might want to try out FOG trunk as we are pretty close to a new release and many things have changed since version 1.2.0! See here on how to install trunk: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrade_to_trunk

The dns you see in the output of the file has nothing to do with the issue you’re seeing.
