Unable to Register Host Unknown Error

Hello,
I have a new system Dell T3620 Workstation. When trying to register host it fails and all I get is a blinking cursor. I have tried updating the kernel and changing the boot file.
I tried adding the host manually and then reloading the system but I’m still unable to image the system. Any help would be appreciated to get it imaging again.

What version of FOG are you using? And what version number of kernel did you update to?

I’m using FOG v1.2.0 and I updated the Kernel to 4.6.4. I’m running a CentOS 6 x64.

Sounds like on of the new PCs with the nvme drive in it, so I am thinking it will not see it on the 1.2.0 version? I could be wrong though.

If I were to upgrade to the newer FOG version which I would like to do is there a guide on doing it for CentOS?

Well the recommended action is to upgrade to 1.3.0-rc4 to get all of the latest hardware support, with support for also uefi firmware, gpt disks, NVMe disks, Windows 10 plus many other performance enhancements. If I haven’t sold you on the upgrade…
For FOG 1.2.0 stable the maximum version of the kernel you can use is anything less than 4.4. In your case you will want to use 4.1.2 and that should address the issue.

@alansopro This guide will get you to 1.3.0-rc4 https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Upgrade_to_trunk When the finial 1.3.0 (stable) is released you will follow the same process to upgrade to stable.

@george1421 I ran the SVN and nothing changed within my FOG. Not sure if I’m doing it increatly but I copy pasted every command and it still says its running 1.2.0. Am I missing something?

sudo mv /var/www/fog /var/www/fog_back sudo mv /var/www/html/fog /var/www/html/fog_backRerun the installer.

@alansopro Make sure after you run the svn to update your install files, then you have to change into the svn path/bin and run the install.sh program to upgrade your fog install.

Got it working! Like the new improved feel. I’m guessing there is also a new FOG Client now for the systems themselves?

@alansopro There is indeed a new fog client, though the old one is there as a just in case but probably has its own set of issues. Besides, I HIGHLY encourage all people to use the new client. It’s much faster and less taxing on the FOG Server. While the old client wasn’t overly rough (after its initial load up) it still had it’s own issues to think/worry about.
