iPXE boot problem on latest DELL stations
I need your help for a little problem i encounter, i try to boot on fog a latest T7810 dell precision, and when it try to boot on ipxe the shell returns an error:
No configuration methods suceeded… (http://ipxe.org/040ee119)
ipxe website says that problem could be resolved with an ipxe update. So, i’ve tu update FOG kernel ?
thank you !!
@arnaudrigole Please ensure that if you have STP enabled on this “test” port, you must ensure one of the fast STP functions are enabled either RSTP, Port Fast, or Fast STP (depending on what your building switch maker calls it). Or just disable STP on the “test” port to see if that fixes your problem. I would suggest leaving STP on and making sure one of the fast protocols are enabled.
We have also seen GreenEthernet (802.1az) cause problems with the FOS engine.
Out of curiosity, what make and model is your building switch?
Great, it worked behind a little router!
So this issue is caused by our cisco switch’s configuration?
Ok i’ll try :)
@arnaudrigole As well as using another iPXE file please try using a dump mini switch to connect between you DELL machine and the actual main network switch. Does this make it any better?
Thank you Wayne,
i tried with “intel.kpxe” doesn’t work, tried with “undionly.kkpxe”, worked, boot on ipxe but block just after that because of a DHCP problem:
" NO DHCP response on interface eth0, skipping it.
Failed to get an IP via DHCP! Please check your network setup and try again "
still trying with another kpxe files.
Try different boot files. You can change this by modifying on your DHCP server Option 067/bootfile.
For a listing of available files, on your FOG Server:
ls -lahRt /tftpboot
