PXE Boot Error 1d0c6539

Re: Could not boot: Input/Output error(http://ipxe.org/1d0c6539)
I am having this same issue. One of my hosts will not pxe boot. I can pxe boot other clients just fine but the one I want to make an image capture from is not
The current version of FOG I’m running is Trunk – Running Version: 8140 SVN Revision: 5698.
Any ideas? All of the hardware I’ve PXE booted so far have been identical. I defaulted this hosts bios settings and reset the pxe boot stuff as I normally do with no luck. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks!
Cheers!

There’s two slashes in that URL, that’s why it’s failing.
http://172.16.1.17
//
fog/service/ipxe/boot.phpcheck in these spots for an extra slash:
web interface -> FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings -> Web Server -> FOG_WEB_HOST
andFOG_WEB_ROOT
And here:
web interface -> Storage Management -> [click node] -> Web root
Also, please run this command on 172.16.1.17 and give us the output:
cat /tftpboot/default.ipxe
and please check inside of/opt/fog/.fogsettings
and look for the lines:docroot= webroot=
What are those set as?

Also, I have nothing listed in my active tasks at all on the GUI.
So prior to this error things were working fine. I was able to image an entire labs worth of machines. What happened was I had imaged those machines and had gone to a new lab, used the image from the old lab to make a new machine to clone. When I got new machine done, I went to capture it again for the new image and forgot to rename said new image. That is when the problem showed up.
What I tried to do to resolve this…
I deleted all images from FOG GUI. Re-added them with the right names. Deleted host from the FOG server. Re-registered host with the FOG server. Rebooted into PXE and PXE failed.
The only other thing that changed was our DNS. We updated a DNS server so I had to make those updates in resolv.conf on the server. But DNS works on the server just fine. I can resolve names no problem.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Tom says the two slashes will not affect it.
Instead, please give us the output of this from a web browser:
http://172.16.1.17/fog/service/ipxe/boot.php?mac=f8:bc:12:9e:cc:ef
-
@Joe-Gill As you’re accessing the FOG Server via IP address, dns is not the issue.
What happens if you go to the boot.php as listed in the picture in your browser?
Can you also update, see if just a simple update helps out? I wonder if the change outs may have cause something in apache to fail.
Maybe get us the apache error logs as well?

@Joe-Gill What’s in the apache error logs?
-
Where are they located?
-
@Joe-Gill You can view them under /var/log/apache2/error.log (debian) or /var/log/httpd/error_log (redhat)
-
-
@Joe-Gill Can you copy paste here?
To copy from putty, simply select the text from the terminal and then paste it in the text area here.

Any thoughts?
-
@Joe-Gill I don’t see the whole string, so no, I have no thoughts.
You can tail the contents of the file, and just select the last few lines directly out of the terminal.

Upate!!
We got this fixed. The FreNAS node on our storage group (not the master), was set to get it’s IP address by DHCP. The DHCP lease went up and the address changed. When this happened it caused this error to appear.
I reset the address on our FreeNAS node of our storage group, and everything works perfectly.
Moral of the story, do not set up any of your servers with DHCP addresses when you’ve got stuff pointing to said addresses!!
Thanks for making me think harder.
Cheers,
Joe Gill
