PCs dont get to the Fog menu/ Windows startup
-
Hi,
I am in a very wierd problem. One of our labs (with 30 computers) when we turn the PCs on, some boot normally off Fog and some after getting the IP address, ask to enter the TFTP server and gives the error message of chainloading failed. I am wondering what could be done to resolve this issue, quite strangely sometimes few of these PCs do get past the initial screen and boot up normally but same PCs dont the other time…Need help please.(Please see the snapshots) -
I’m guessing there’s another DHCP server on your network.
If that’s the case, please refer to https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Using_FOG_with_an_unmodifiable_DHCP_server/_Using_FOG_with_no_DHCP_server#DNSMASQ_settings_for_iPXE

@Quazz All other labs (we have about 20 labs), it is working fine…its just this lab which is on a separate cisco switch and PCs connected to this switch are having this issue…dont know what to do
-
@gabbas Then it seems the switch is the issue. Is it a unmanaged one?
-
@Quazz Its managed

@gabbas Just for clarity your dhcp server for this subnet is 10.9.112.1? What is that device?
The other thing I noticed is that your fog server is on 10.1.63.202 (??) that is a different subnet so your router for that subnet is 10.9.112.250?
From that subnet (on a computer running the OS like windows) can you ping the fog server 10.1.63.202? If you load the tftp feature in windows, can you tftp that file from the fog server to the local computer on that subnet?

As @Quazz said, historically in the forums when we see this, there are more than one DHCP services running, serving to the same broadcast domain, and at least 1 of them is not configured correctly.
