      Our main server is on the 10.21.0.0/21 network currently we have all of our storage nodes on the same subnet.

      Another local school with the same ISP on the 10.23.0.0/21 network is having troubles with their fog server. We said we could have a storage node at their school and create a new storage group for images. I just want to make sure fog is capable of sending images across subnets.

        Images are not replicated across different storage groups.

        They’d have to be part of the same storage group to replicate them. FOG uses FTP to move the images as far as I know, so different subnets are no problem for replication.

          @Quazz Almost, and totally accurate for 1.2.0 and earlier.

          The development versions of FOG will allow files to be replicated “Cross-groups”. The “Group->Group” transfers only happen from Master to Master. Then the receiving group master will push the files to the other nodes within its group.

          You can, now, specify what images you want to allow replication to occur as well.

          Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

            OK. I have all of our school’s images on the “default” storage group. Those replicate on the same subnet. Could i create a new storage group called “Green” and have that replicate to the other school’s storage node?

              OK!! Our server is on Trunk 7410. How would i set up the two servers on different subnets to communicate and replicate to each other?

                Replication happens over the ftp protocol. As long as the master can reach the slave node via ping, ftp (and http) then the remote storage node replication will work. The only caveat is that if you are creating a new storage group you must have a master and a slave in that storage group for replication to happen.

                From your OP not sure what value would be in having a separate storage group since all images from the master will replicate to storage nodes in same group. If you have a storage group with only a slave node, no replication will happen.

                    Can you update to a more recent version as well?

                      @Tom-Elliott

                      I have tried updating a few times before. My server seems to never complete the upgrade. After attempting to upgrade, I cannot access the web GUI and the database scheme never updates.

                        @cojohnson What do you mean?

                        Logs would be VERY useful.
