iPxe initialising devices... Sticking

I’d be surprised if the drivers for this device were NOT already in the kernel.

That said, have you tried?

See there was a feature added to FOG a few months ago specifically to address the USB NIC issue you’re describing.

Under the hosts that need the USB Nic, add the kernel argument has_usb_nic=1.

While it doesn’t save any time, directly, it should allow the device to operate as intended.

The way the argument works is by waiting for you to disconnect, then reconnect the device. This, for whatever reason, seems to work.

Ok so i take it I will have to manually register the host first, than add the argument

You can alter the args list for registration if you need to. Look at the FOG Configuration->iPXE Boot Menu Configuration->fog.reginput boot options add has_usb_nic=1.

This option should be removed for non-usb nic hosts, but if you’re focused only on these for now, this should get you where you need to go at least.

Oh interesting, I do not have that. I am using what I thought was the latest version 1.2.0

1.2.0 is the latest stable version, but I do not believe those options were added untila later revision. You can upgrade to trunk which has been reliable and stable for me that last few months.

Of course make sure you backup first.

Yay all updated however back to iPXE initialising devices … and I already changed tftp to reflect undionly.kkpxe

Edit: For what ever reason when i restarted my fog machine now its not detecting the HDD lol lovely…
Edit:2 I had to repair grub but back up and running.

OK I have updated to trunk. Re sym linked the undionk.kkpxe file. get into fog menu and try to do a host reg and still gets stuck after /init.xz…Ok

Played around last night for a time and still unable to get these laptops to work correctly with fog.

Still noticing that when I click anything in the fog pxe menu. after it loads the kernel and pxe image the adapter goes dead and has no connectivity.

I have tried on both HP Stream 13 and 11. same issue. I will try with another machine

Edit: I do not have another laptop that has USB to Ethernet Boot Support.

Update: Tried some different settings and playing around still have not been able to do this, Going crazy b/c today Ive got 900 Stream 11 Pro’s coming in and i need to start imaging them. I can start using clonezilla if i need but would rather multicast
