      Hi evryone

I am going to install Fog server at my workplace.
Th eplan is to do it this way:

I am going to configure a new VLAN on our Firewall.
This VLAN will serve as the “imaging network”
The Firewall will take care of routing and DNS.
I want to leave DHCP to the Fog server.

Is this setup possible? If yes could i run into any problems by doing this?

      Thanks in advance
      Gazi

I run mine on my main network all the DHCP server has to do is add two options, which are easy to configure if you have a ‘proper’ router and not one of the little horrors some of the ISP’s send out.

Every environment is different and you can always do what suits you best.

If you’ve set up an isolated V-Lan,

This will probably be the most simple FOG install, ever. 🙂

Probably just one consideration… Make sure Multicast is configured right on your v-lan… BUT, you don’t have to worry about it at the moment if you’re not sure. And, it might be fine already.

You want to get unicast working first, since it’s simpler; then try multicast next.

          So, go for it.

Let us know how it goes.

            Hello Wayne

We have a “testing room” where all Computers will be brought to for imaging.
Maybe i should mention that these aren’t usual office PC’s.
In our case these are freshly assembled machines that go out to customers. I’ll be using the FOG
service to install the OS on them.

Do you plan on changing the port’s vlan config every time you want to image?

Or do you have an area setup just for imaging that you’d physically bring the machines to?

Sounds feasable to me when all your clients are in that same VLAN too and everything is configured properly… give it a go and let us know if you need assistence or things go wrong.
