BTSync

  • Senior Developer

    All,

With collaboration with VincentJ of these forums (and I’m sure others) I’ve created a BTSync to my trunk directory.

If you want to connect it, that’s up to you.

From my understanding, all you need to do is have a location and btsync. Enter my “secret” code and it will do it’s thing.

    My “secret” code is:
BAU3NUY3XTKVMHHEZO6C7OH55AN2PCGJV
What this means, ultimately. As long as there are other “nodes” available, data will initially be downloaded, then synced after that. So when I update my stuff, (usually before I commit to SVN) you get the updates as well. Should limit wait times for me to post the latest release.

    Hope you all enjoy!

Yeah, this is where the host CSV import comes in handy to migrate hosts. you could even export the inventory SQL table and import that into 0.33 aswell

  • Ok. Thanks for the info!

    Vincent is absolutely correct.

You can upgrade, but there will be all sorts of broken elements which won’t be simple to fix. That and all of the image’s you’ve created with previous versions of FOG will not work with fog 0.33 due to the change from partimage to partclone.

join the btsync and try it :)

from what I’ve been told it’s not a drop in upgrade from 0.32 to 0.33b

  • Ok. Currently, I’m completely fine with using 0.32. But when there is a stable 0.33, I would consider updating.
However, whenever 0.33 stable is released, I would appreciate a short HowTo, which points out what to look out for while updating from 0.32 to 0.33 in order to keep all the settings, hosts, images etc… In case 0.33 is a complete rewrite, as I read here and there, it might not be possible to update from 0.32 at all.

Maybe Tom can enlighten me, whether or not it will be possible to update from 0.32 to 0.33. Thanks!

It’s becoming much more stable than it used to be, but Tom is waiting for Chuck to sort out an actual release.

I’m wanting a stable releasable version too… eventually if the beta just gets more and more stable we can just use that…

  • Tom,
will your FOG 0.33b at some point in the future emerge to an official and stable FOG 0.33 or will that remain an unofficial side project?
