If I’m understanding this properly, maybe your device has USB 3.0 and this is what’s causing the issue?
It also, seems, as if the kernel panics due to something connected to the usb. What else is usb connected?Are the devices that are USB attached, attached to the usb 3.0 ports?
I’m only going off theories here, so I might be completely wrong. I’ll look into my kernel config to see if they have USB 3.0 support. Something tells me this is the issue! Maybe you can test by changing bios options for those, possible putting in highest spec of usb 2.0 if possible?

I haven’t tested it yet with the tower version, but when I do and somehow figure it out, I will post that here.

The machine does have USB 3.0 on front and back. The panic happens even when I have no USB devices connected at all. The only options I have to deal with the USB ports in BIOS are to either disable individual ports, or disable each of the three controllers. I tried disabling just the USB 3.0 ports, and I also tried disabling all 3 controllers. I’m still getting a kernel panic either way, though it’s hanging at a different line number now (with the same message). This is where I end up with all 3 USB controllers completely disabled in BIOS:

I’ll try physically disconnecting the USB headers on the board and see what happens.

Does the BIOS have an option for supporting legacy? Maybe it’s failing due to that.
Also, can you try another kernel:

It’s built on 3.11.5, currently, and has all network drivers for built-in and USB.
Maybe this will work for you?

Unplugged the front USB header (and front audio just in case), and still no luck. Not surprising I guess, since the BIOS should have been ignoring them anyway after I disabled them, but it was worth a shot. The only other USB-related option I have in BIOS is to enable or disable the “USB EHCI Port Debug”, which is disabled by default.
One thing I did notice, is that each of the three USB controllers has both USB2 and USB 3 ports on the same controller. I could see that as being unusual, but I’d think with the controllers disabled that it shouldn’t continue to happen.

Legacy USB? No, I don’t see any options for that like I’ve seen in older BIOS’s. However, I am set to use “Legacy Support” instead of “Secure Boot” in the Secure Boot configuration, since we’re using Win7, not Win8. I know 0.32 / 3.8.8 still doesn’t support UEFI, but I haven’t had issues with the HP 8300’s in this same configuration as long as I was using MFT instead of GPT on the disk.
I’ll try the kernel upgrade here in a bit and let you know.

So I’m an idiot, and I’m sorry for wasting your time. I was using the “client system information” option from the FOG menu to test with… which was still set to use our old pre-3.8.8 kernel version. Somehow I had it in my head that changing the kernel path in the web UI would magically change the settings in the menu. Duh. Sorry about that. I kicked off an upload task so the client would actually use 3.8.8 and it’s working fine.
So yeah, I can confirm now that both the SFF and TWR form factors of the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 work like a champ with 0.32 / kernel 3.8.8, even with USB 3.0 enabled and devices plugged into the 3.0 ports.

I have a HP 600 G1 that is hanging on the same point (for upload, and Client system information). Can you please clarify what was the fix for this?

It sounds like the fix was to update the kernel. You can try mine at: [url]https://mastacontrola.com/fogboot/kernel/bzImage[/url], or you can download the latest from FOG Sourceforge 3.8.8 from the FOG Web GUI under “Other Information” (?) icon->kernel update.
