New Dell Laptop - LINUX-EFI-INITRD-MEDIA-GUID
-
Hi,
I just got 2 new Dell 14 plus 2in 1 laptops and wish to image them with fog using the same procedure I do with all other Dell - non dell pcs and laptops
However when I select to deploy the image (from the laptop itself) or use quick registration I am getting the below error
EFI stub: Loaded initrd from LINUX_EFI_INITRD_MEDIA_GUID device path.
I tested fog maybe an issue occured when running OS updates however it is still working, issue is only at the moment on this laptop.
You’re running the latest stable version: 1.5.10 / Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

@dejv 1.5.10 is quite old, though is the master I suppose.
We have bene doing stable branch releases more autonomously with likely newer versions of the kernel.
With that said, however, this appears to be kernel related.
Of course first question just to ensure all is right:
UEFI Secure boot is temporarily disabled correct?
Please attempt to update your kernel to a newer version.
You can do this in the UI from FOG Configuration Page -> Kernel Updater
Find the latest version and try that, and work back if necessary for older versions. I suspect one of these will work better for your needs.

can confirm that up-to-date FOG works fine with this model.

I didn’t try updating the kernel (as when @Tom-Elliott replied I had already started the linux upgrade) however updating the linux to Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, and downloading and installing latest FOG built (as after the upgrade it wasn’t working anymore) fixed the issue.
Thanks @Tom-Elliott
This is the kernel version with the updated linux
