The fog menu launches successfully with no errors. I then choose quick inventory. The bzImage starts to download and then freezes.
1st time, it was sitting at 0%
2nd time it timed out while trying to connect to download the bzImage
3rd time is has now started downloading and then seemed to freeze at 4%.

No changes have been made to the Fog Imaging server and some assistance would be useful.

      Kind regards
      Duane

@dashwell Has fog been running OK until this specific hardware?

If yes, then make sure the firmware (bios) is up to date on this computer.

If the bios is up to date then try the snponly.efi driver. This uses the built in network driver in the nic instead of the one provided by iPXE.

What make and model of computer is this for the record?

@dashwell Might add another question: Are FOG server and hosts/clients in the same subnet or different ones?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

            Hi George and Sebastian,

To answer your questions, we use the SNPONLY.EFI as the boot image as it runs better on the newer HP laptops, we use a Microtik router as our DHCP server and router and it only supports one image file call routine.

With regards to the network layout, there is a router that sits between the server and the client machine as our network is fairly large. However, that router has been there since the beginning.

We’ve double checked on the BIOS version and it is the latest BIOS running.
It is an HP Pro Book 450 G7 with an NVME drive.

We’ve been using this server to deploy images to other computers successfully of late. They will call me if there are problems. We are currently deploying to G8 HP laptops.

So it’s just one particular hardware, right? Probably the iPXE network driver not playing nicely. Which version of FOG do you use? Try using the very latest iPXE binary from dev-branch: https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/tree/dev-branch/packages/tftp

Once you get past your current issue, If you need dynamic pxe booting (bios/uefi) we have a solution for that even if your dhcp server doesn’t support it. But for now one issue at a time.
