The root user for mysql/mariadb is different than the linux root user. When you install FOG 1.5.7 (I think) or later it should ask you to create a root password for mysql. This because FOG used no password for mysql for many years and this was decided to be insecure by the FOG developers. So they force you to pick a password and its not recorded anywhere.

If you “lost” the root user password for mysql/mariadb you will need to recover it using one of the many tutorials on the internet for recovering the root password like this one: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-reset-your-mysql-or-mariadb-root-password

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!

@marted Do you still need guidance on resetting your FOG environment or are you good now?
