Advice needed for using FOG in a Training Environment
-
Hello
I’m going to be setting up some training computers in a hotel and need some advice as to how to best use FOG for this.
I would like to use FOG to image each computer. Then at the end of the days training i can reimage each computer so its back to original config for the next days training.
It will be in a hotel conference room, connected with a VPN to a corporate network. Is it better to have FOG on a seperate computer and use the VPN box for the DHCP, or is it better to take the VPN box off the network when imaging the computers and use FOG for the DHCP?
I’m not sure what the best solution is?
I want to setup my Fog server now but as it has to be on the Internet to install I have to connect it to the corporate network, which means it will get a 172.x.x.x address. THen when i’m in the hotel, if i use the FOG server as DHCP server I will have to change the IP address?
If i setup the FOG server to give out DHCP while on the company network it will screw things up. Do i just add this function on later when i get to the hotel
I’m a little lost and not sure where to begin or which is the correct setup for this use
Could anyone point me in the correct direction.?
Thanks in advance, and sorry if i haven’t explain myself very well

Have you considered FOG in ProxyDHCP mode? FOG can still answer PXEboot requests while letting whatever other DHCP server hand out the IP addresses, be it your VPN machine or the corporate network.
